Read this carefully....NEVER BUY A BENZ WITHOUT A WARRANTY!
I made that mistake once and regretted it to no end. All these years later and I still feel sick just thinking about it.

So does that mean to never modify a Benz either? Or are you guys finding dealers that don't care if they're modded and who still honor the warranties?

TONS of modded Benzes running around.

Thanks...

MetaL47 is infamous around these parts
'07 S65 here with around 50,000 miles already and it has been bullit-proof for that time. The only thing is it needs a lot of oil. Every so often it says that it is low and requires a quart of oil (even though it takes two to fill it up to stop displaying the message). I know if you wreck the front chin spoiler that was $3,000 to replace from Mercedes-Benz. But no issues here with the suspension or engine/transmission. Bone stock and with a very heavy foot driving. Very reliable car.

Your SL does not have air suspension, your cl does, and the cl parts are vastly cheaper.

is this a joke? you really think benz shared or used anything from chrysler? all they did was give them a platform for the crossfire- (old slk 170 chassis) and the pacifia (r-class)

Let me correct all of you guys- This is an S65 which means it has abc (active body control) not airmatic. The suspension is hydraulic. If you think the airmatic parts are pricey, then you you've never bought an abc part. I agree with alot that has been mentioned, especially not owning w/ a warranty. Parts cost add up quickly, after all this is a 200k$ car, just because you bought it for a fraction of the cost it doesnt change the fact that the parts are for a 200k$ car.

The v12 bi turbo motor is very reliable. as mentioned maint. can be costly. Intercooler flush ever 2-3yrs, spark plugs- there are 24 of them and not cheap along with labor. The abc struts canl go out and run around 2k each, the valve distribution blocks may start leaking internally and cause the car to drop those run around $1600. Other then that keep in mind the monstrous 2 piece brake rotors are over 1k$ each. non of that includes labor, fluid etc...If any of that made you cringe you cant afford the car. Theres a reason they are so amazing, you get what you pay for. This car will never leave you stranded or disappointed if you service it regularly.
