C63 AMG tires problem
C63 AMG tires problem
hi
i have changed rear tires bc they were worn off (after 9000miles). Front tires are still ok so i did not changed them. since than the car feels like is floating specialy i can feel it with higher speed.
i used different brand of tires but of course the same size, mercedes dealer said it can be the problem. they said i have to stick with original brand of tires which i think is bull....
thank you

it can vary depending on tread pattern and whether or not the tires are asymetrical...many will say you can run different brands as long as both tires (either fronts or rears) are the same but on some cars with some tread patterns it doesn't work...to me mixing brands on a high performance car is insane but that is JMHO...you don't have to stick with the manufacturers recommended tire but you should have changed all four to the new brand...do your new rear tires have directional arrows on them? do your front tires have directional arrows? If either of them do, then both fronts and rears have to be asymetrical and that can be the problem
thats what i was wondering. I replace them from 1500-5000. The stock pirelli's are pricey but worth every penny for the traction, road noise and handling performance. If you put on some bfg's or kumhos for 1/2-1/4 the price then you probably just learned your lesson on you get what you pay for. But considering the facts...
1.Car drove great 2.rear tires wore out- replaced them 3. car drives crappy.
unless you hit something and bent a wheel or messed up alignment you answered your own question.

not saying you have to stay with stock/ original oem. As long as your buy something worth owning - ie: not kumho, bfg, nankang, etc...

my oem Pzeros were done at 4500 miles. i kept the fronts and put yokohoma avids on the back (all weather asymetrical) car drives GREAT and no issues. i think the load rating affects the "float" as well. you might have a tire with too low of a load rating or like others have said the tread pattern maybe affecting it as well. try the Yoks. they are great and very affordable. my main reason with going with these was i do drive in below zero weather if the roads are clean and i wanted longer life.
Load rating is definitely a part of the picture on this car. XL rated tires are needed or you will eat right through them. Snow tires are needed in the winter!
Please call me if I can help.

I can't believe that you got 9,000 Miles!!
I have 10,000 Miles and I have already purchased my 3 set of Pirellis!!
And I never do burnouts.... Never!! They are just a soft tyre compound.

please dont get yokohamas. They suck. Grip is terrible, life is mediocre at best and they get soooooooooo noisey. You will bring your car into the shop thinking something is horribly wrong only to find out its just the tires. if your going over 40mph and punch it you probably wont hear your engine.
