Just before Christmas we made the leap into what will be our next platform. There were a lot of options available to us but at the end of the day the most attractive looked to be the new Mercedes 5.5L Twin turbo line.
With gobs of displacement and two turbos hanging off of it the potential for big power is massive.
One of the big developments at AMS over the late 2011 season was our tuning department. Our tuners Chris Black and Mitch McKee spent some time overseas training on new software and tools needed for our tuning department. Hundreds of hours were spent in house decoding ECU files and maps to unlock new avenues in ECU tuning here at AMS. With this new knowledge and tool set we are now able to tune just about every european ECU in house here at AMS. These new abilities will prove invaluable in our development of the Mercedes performance packages.
Our 10 years of forced induction part manufacture and tuning knowledge can now be applied to this exciting new platform.
So stay tuned as AMS develops some new performance packages for the new Mercedes models carrying the new 5.5L Twin turbo powerplant.
Below is our development car, The E63 AMG... stock for now.. but not for long

Congrats, beautiful car and I love the new wheels! I just picked up a 2012 C63 which as you know still has the 6.3L n/a motor. Do you have any sort of tune/options for that car? Mine has the P31 perf package and based on online reviews they seem to be making 420+ rwhp and trapping 117-120.

Peter! nice to hear from you again.
We don't have any packages for it just yet but we do have the ability to tune them in house as we do with just about any Mercedes.

We actually just put our E63 on one of our dynos (Dynojet) and it put down a very impressive 460whp.

Our car is a non performance pack car (we can take care of that) and it does indeed have the factory LSD.
I will keep you posted. We are still developing the GT-R, R8 and 997 so our guys are pretty busy back there but the Mercedes will get plenty of attention.
As far as tuning currently we do all our tuning in house... and I do mean in house. We spent a LOT of money and time to be able to do all software reprogramming right inside these walls. So when you buy an AMS tune you are not getting another tune resold with some other companies name on it. This is a tune written in house by the same guys responsible for writing the files for 1500hp cars.
Thank you again for the VERY warm welcome!

Eric, that is great! The thing about the 2012 P31 (performance pack) car is that I hear they already make 420 whp stock (about 50 more than a standard C63) so I worry about how much potential above and beyond the 420 whp there is. I guess the first step would be to get it on the dyno...which we will at TX2K12.
