GLS feels cheap vs e-class?
GLS feels cheap vs e-class?
Just curious about something that some people more familiar with modern mercedes can answer.
My parents have an e550 convertible, last year for the NA v8, I think it's 2011 or 2012.
I recently rented a gls450, must have been an '18 or '19.
I was seriously unimpressed with the gls, it did not feel special in any way. The interior and driving experience was not what I was expecting at all. It just felt like an appliance. Granted it was likely a low option rental gls. At the same time, the e550 feels like a special car. The steering, nvh, suspension, materials and just general fit and finish just make it glaringly obvious that your not in an acura or something.
I'm pretty sure the gls had a higher msrp than the e550, what gives? Is the e-class just a better vehicle than the gls? I was shocked because I know the gls is built on the s-class platform.
sidenote: I returned the gls rental and they gave me a new navigator. The thing is just... wow. Whoever buys a gls over a navigator needs to get their head examined, because I'm pretty sure they cost about the same.

We had a ML and the car wasn’t of the same quality as our other Mercedes. I think the Mercedes made here in the USA are not of the same standards as the ones made in Germany. Don’t get me wrong it was still a great car for the purpose it was bought for but didn’t seem any better than my Chevy pickup truck. My SL55 is still my all time favorite car and will never leave our collection.
I mostly rent cars. Be wary of prepaid gasoline plans. Always fill the tank yourself before returning the vehicle so that you’re only paying for the amount of gas you actually used. I will say that Myrtle Beach exotic car rental did a good job as a service. Car was in good shape too. Try to avoid the gas stations right near the airport where you’re dropping off your car — the prices tend to be highest there. Instead, fill up a few miles away.
Test drive a GLS63 and you will fall in love with the car. It truly is a mind boggling experience to feel a 7 seater SUV accelerate like a sports car. Truly worth it and the interior as better in the AMG version of the X166 GLS. I had a 2015 GL450 and this interior is way better. I know its not the new MBUX operating system in the new Benzs but if you get over that, the GLS63 is a great car. Ill be tuning mine soon and hope to get more than 700hp from just a tune alone. Also, the new GLS63 isn't even out yet and won't hit dealerships for another year and a half or so.
