Thanks. Tried to post pictures but had trouble. At least people can get ahold of me and I can correspond. I have now owned it for five years. Loved every minute.
Vlad, I had no problem viewing many pics here, no idea if some have been removed but I doubt it. Anyone interested in seeing the single pic John posted of his white beauty needs to go all the way back to post #5.
John, while Bring a Trailer requires a large amount of seller participation, you might familiarize yourself with the platform, look at how other top notch SL55 offerings have performed and consider it. Personally I’d look at all the ‘06 through ‘08 examples. Unfortunately one of the things you’ll see is the market isn’t treating them very well at all. Never know though, yours is quite desireable given the options and maintenance. Perhaps consider consignment to a well known B@T seller, such as Silver Star in Victoria, there’s another very well known one in Portland Oregon too. Please feel free to pm or email me if I can help.
Of course the best help I can offer is this advice: Keep it, the market is currently quite soft and has been for a while. If you and your wife are still able to physically and mentally enjoy it, do so, for as long as you can!
Best wishes to you both, Steve
Steve, that's odd. I got zero pics using multiple browsers the other day, yet they're visible again today. Go figure. I agree with your comments about BaT. Some cars are getting more attention than I would expect, yet others seem to slide under the radar. The market is definitely soft right now.
Txs Steve, yes I am considering working with Silver Arrow in Victoria. They saw the car last Friday and I am pretty sure they think it’s a fine example of a rare SL 55 P30. I am worried there’s not enough money in an SL 55 for them to do the same work they do selling a Ferrari. Wonderful people though! AND my car really is fabulous. Flip the window sticker over and you’ll see the price as posted back then ..just under 200,000 cdn Anthracite grey interior, looks fabulous with the white exterior Great rear end or what? Carbon fibre accents instead of wood Seats very good condition with auto massage and bolster adjustment
510 hp supercharged V8. Last Supercharged V8 produced by MB…Signed, sealed and delivered Pano roof down and stored, all hydraulics working as they should. The SL design certainly stands the test of time.
Vlad, the pictures of my P30 with the other collector cars were taken the last time I was at Coachwerks. Coachwerks is one of the premier automotive restoration shops in the world. They also do a lot of work for Silver Arrow also a premium classic automobile sales group that also has a sales office in Victoria. Silver Arrow has a few offices in the states as well. Their range of collector cars available just in Victoria is awesome and their knowledge of same is as impressive.
Greetings! I just stumbled across this thread and joined the forum to reply. I am the current owner of a 2006 SL55 P30 VIN: WDBSK74F96F115761. I purchased the car from San Diego a few years ago, it now resides in Las Vegas. The car has just a tick under 76,000 miles on it now. The previous owner converted the car to coil overs, and installed a crank pulley, and an absolutely fantastic sound system. This is my 2nd SL55, and by far the nicest. It was meticulously maintained and pampered.
