So, of all the cars I've had... I have really enjoyed my 05 E55; and I've also had an 08 'E63 (I'd call it a big block!), and a TT 12 E63 P30... I really enjoyed the blower Benz the most. I've always like the CL55. I'd like to find a sub 50K mile 06 (they have the better wheels IMO), plus it was the last year for the model. I understand the 03's have some issues 9electrical gremlins?) and I know the ABC can be cubic $$$ to fix.... I gotta have black interior... That's a must... Also, a no paint, no accident car. I also know they made very few of them.. I don't want the V12...
So, tell me why I am nuts! Be brutally honest please...If you have one to sell, especially a southern/Texas car, I am all ears....And if you want a sob-20K mile AM V8V... You are in luck...
Ha! Point!!! Have to say, having had a BMW V12 in the early 90's, I am a bit gun-shy on the CL65, but think I am pretty sold on the CL55... Now, just to find a nice one...
Why not an SL55? Pre front end restyle they were made up to ‘08. Much improved ABC system, and the P30 option. If the idea of a hardtop vert with a dozen hydraulic cylinders scares you there’s always an X150 XKR. If you don’t have a serious jones for the catfish faced S model, you’ll get a really nice one for what your Aston is worth…
CL55 issues are pretty much the same as SL55 - ABC, M113k blower bearing and intercooler issues, transmission leaks into the cooling system on early models. Also Command system issues ranging from viewer screen pixel failure to complete system failure exasperated by early fiber optic tech equaling expensive repairs.

All great points Steve! I actually started looking for a 06-08 P30 SL way before the Aston... There were zero on BAT, noting advertised except one that had lived a hard life in CA... I would have considered a non-P30 car if nice & clean, but none of those around either. I am talking to a guy with one that has 9K miles, and is a p30, but it's a black/black car, and I'd prefer a silver/black or silver/red, but ya can't be too picky... I did know about the display issues, having had 3 AMG's previously. I think they can be 'fixed' by someone who advertises in the MBCA. I am not a big convertible guy, have only had one in my life many years ago... with the top down, on a freeway, tiny rocks & sand being kicked up by vehicles in front of you, driving behind busses, etc, smelling like diesel,,, not really my thing. Allergies are too bad, and when I wore contacts, was a real beating. So, all that to say, I may never put the top down... Interesting you mention 'improved ABC'... I was not aware of that,,, At first, Improved ABC sounded almost like "jumbo shrimp" or "happily married" (I kid!),,,, When did they get the improved ABC? That could be huge...
Thank you for taking the time to comment,,, If only I knew, I would not have torn my body up so bad when I was young... Dirt bikes, dual sports, street bikes, sports, etc... Yea... Not so good!!!
OK found a 40,000 mile CL55, was able to orchestrate a reasonable trade and get cashback in the process. We’ll post some pictures soon as it arrives. Probably a week or two out before it gets transported in. I was amazed at how clean the front lower valance is. Zero scrapes.
I admire that you looked for a clean, low mile example.
I picked up a 2004 with 137K miles recently and have been performing deferred maintenance and upgrade since purchasing. Easy cars to work on. So far so good.
Runs very well. the M113K is a strong motor, one of the reasons I searched out a low mile one with working ABC. It's all box-stock, but would be a good one to mod for sure. I've had a 2005 E55, a 2008 E63 and a 2012 E63, the 05 E55 was my favorite by a mile. This is way more of a GT car. Amazing the $'s/per smile value.
I have actually listed it for sale, it's in the marketplace. With the price of G's coming down, I may try my hand at one of those... I am not sure I am in love with them yet though.
Keep us posted on your car. What it needs and what you do to it.

I had a 2005 G55 not long ago. Loved the truck. Drove it for 10K miles. Ultimately sold it because my wife would let me lift it and it had some more rust underneath than I was comfortable with. Loved the motor though and thats why I ended up back in a M113K powered car.
My ownership log of my CL can be seen here: https://mbworld.org/forums/cl55-amg-cl65-amg-cl63-amg-c215-c216/860852-dgiis-2004-cl55-amg-ownership-log.html
Good luck on your sale! Looked at your post, your car is amazingly clean. Should have plenty of interested buyers!

Thank you DGI- Appreciate the very kind words- Still have the car... Love driving it, but have the "G" itch really bad now that I drove a Gladiator for the past week in the mountains of South Dakota... Was driving the CL a few weeks ago and a rock caught the windshield... BAM! Crack! Need new glass now. Thank goodness OEM glass is still available...
Get it! I had one back in 2005 and have always regretted selling it. About five years ago, I found a 44k mile, own owner example in techtite grey, just like I had it and then proceeded to modify it as mine was back in 2005. I'll never sell this car again.
