07 S550 -- 1900 mi.

Perfect so far except for some zapping noise, which is 'normal'. Tried 3 other S550's on dealers lot and they all do the same thing.

'01 E55 - 1 bad MAF. Otherwise, no major problems.

03 CLK500 W209 - 60k mi. mostly a reliable car so far with minor mechanical problems when first purchased that were all fixed during routine service visits. The only major problem/defect occured at 40k miles when the transmission/radiator were replaced due to a crack/leak in one of the cooling lines and subsequent contamination of the transmission fluid.

2005 G55k 32k miles, SOLID vehicle, minor glitches with squeaks and rattles from rear hatch door. I have had it for almost 18 mos been to the dealer 3 times. Most recently a Transmission control module was replaced. One fast a** SUV and the sound of the exhaust is like no other. Great car.

2005 SL600 Renntech (bro's old car) 10k miles when sold, went to the service dept. twice for minor crap, in/out in 1 day or less.

2005 CL65 (bro's old car) 9k miles, had it for a year or less, went to the dealer 3 times for brake squeal, they could never get rid of the squal and even tried replacing all rotors and pads. Wheel's discoloring happened twice. Nice car and great service advisor (Westmont Mercedes).

Bajo

PS. I did have a 1986 560SEL that I drove until I sold it with 260k on the clock, and as far as I am concerned that was the most durable chassis MBZ has ever built (W126).
Did have a lot of transmission problems with that one though.

Forgot to mention....

'06 CLS500-- When slowing down, transmission would bang into gear. It was quite annoying. Never brought it to the dealer though since I sold it at 2,500 miles.

05 e55. Reliability nightmare. Purchased new and sold 5 months later out. Car was towed in twice. Once for the engine shutting down while driving on the very busy 101 due to a wiring harness not being properly attached by the factory and once for a massive internal fuel leak due to fuel valves having been misaligned by the factory. My cars in insulation and interior leather had to be replaced. Suspension problems caused the car to settle as in to the stops over the left rear wheel if parked for more than a few hours. Squealing brakes that could never fixed, etc, etc, etc....

Still I miss the car, not the one I owned, I realize mine was a lemon and still am considering the new E63.

I was concerned about the quality issues with MB before purchasing our E500 a year ago. 14 months later and we just turned 40,000 miles!!! One "service" light came on at about 5 or 6 months. We live over an hour from the nearest dealership and they actually drove a loaner to our house, picked up our car and returned it the next day by 10am. I don't recall exactly what the problem was, but it happened to be very minor. The service has been outstanding. Anyone around Oklahoma really should look no further than Jackie Cooper Imports in Tulsa for their MB/Porsche, etc. World class service!
