computer pros: need your help !

OK, I've got a laptop and desktop I'm planning on donating to a couple of charities and have done the initial delete and emptying of recycle bin for all my files, however I just feel like a really good hacker could still figure out a way to pull those files still b/c I feel like they are still loaded somewhere in another part of the memory in the computers. Is there anything I can do, use or buy to completely wipe out all files except for the programs? Thanks.

You need a data erasure program because the HDD needs to be fully re-written to with 1 and 0's by the program on all sectors for it to be completely wiped out.

I would say a format is sufficient unless you have personal/financial data on the drive...
