Brake DIY Day - Fredericksburg Va...
Yea, Unfortunately, it seems that anywhere on the east coast speeding above about 29MPH over is going to get you put in cuffs... We were in South Carolina for a wedding at the beginning of the month and one of the members of the wedding party had just been bailed out. 86 in a 55 and he was expecting to lose his license for some time... It's nolonger "just" the communistwealth!

Its not the people I'm worried about, its the cops!
Mikelly- that is very disturbing news. I need to sell my cars or put a speed limiter of 80mph on them. Which one of the presidential candidates is opposed to jail time for speeding? I will vote for them!

So my dad is taking my car into Porsche of Annapolis (he works there now) tomorrow and they're going to do some work on it. I think my need for front pads may not be able to wait that long, so I told him anything that couldn't wait a month to do on the spot, and anything that could wait a month he's just going to get me parts for. Either way, I want to come down and get my hands dirty! Hopefully they'll save some rotors or some rear pads for me
Track days are your friend... Speeding on public roads has gone the way of the dinosaur! I don't think there is a presidential candidate who can find his or her own *** with both hands, and the help of their party, let alone help us out with our speeding addictions!

I did some research and from what I found VA is still one of the few states that can "sentence" you to jail for speeding. That does not mean they cant take you on the spot for wreckless but, I dont think they can hold you beyond the typical 24hr window and you shouldnt have to serve time after that. (unless you hurt someone in which case you will have additonal charges)
Chris, I think that's where other states have moved to change or amend laws with regards to what constitutes reckless endangerment. Rather than hitting you with a simple speeding ticket, they'll charge you with the reckless driving or reckless endangerment and even if they don't take you in, you stand a chance of getting sentanced by the judge...
I got a ticket in Johnsoncity Tennessee on Memorial Day 2004 and called in to pay the fine for 56 in a 35 zone and the girl asked twice for me to confirm that the ticket was marked as "Payable" without showing up, and then asked me to fax it to her. When I asked why, she said that 20mph or more over in her jurisdiction was an automatic suspension of license.
Good think the cop gave me a break for being "out of state"...

This is too perfect. I was going to give this a whirl myself in the upcoming weeks but I've never once changed brakes my entire life. This will be a really big help in learning how to do it right. I live in Montgomery County but will gladly make the drive down that way.
You might have. I put it up there in the spring for what was then a kind of high price. I haven't changed it so now it must be astronomically priced compared to the market. I should remove the ad. I have a bunch of things I'm ready to do including installing the Aero II bumper and wing and swap most of the vinyl interior for leather with pieces I've been accumulating the past several months.
None of that has me as jazzed changing my own brakes though!
