I think the economy is your hook up brother. You can probably name your price right now.

Don't do Volvo!

My wife was going to buy a car this weekend until she read an economy article in the Post that scared the bejesus out of her. It looks like her Honda van will remain in the garage crowding the personal space of my beloved.

0.9% APR from BMW, best time to buy. The lease rates are horrible I think.

Dave - yeah man, the economy is definitely in our favor.....excellent credit on our part w/ the bargaining power to be able to afford is working in our best interest....always out to see the best of the best deals

Deckman - what did the article say.....you're scarying me. I have a Volvo V50 wagon 2005 w/ 110,000 miles on it (yup, not a typo) and the car and the dealer (Don Beyer in Alexandria) have treated me fair thus far.....I'd love to get your perspective on the article though.

M3-Addict - we are looking to lease. I think it's in our game plan to have a car that is covered for the most part on maintenance and hand it over in a couple years rather than own outright.......

Thanks everyone for the PM's and responses thus far......

Well, either way you lease or buy BMW has free maintenance and also they even change stuff for wear and tear for free.

Berk, my impression of Volvo has been "you can do better". But everyone's mileage varies. I've never leased before but had read that leasing terms aren't good right now.

As for the article, I think it was in the Sunday Post front page. I'm fuzzy but think it was the one comparing this meltdown to the great depression and exploring all the similarities. I'd gone with her to look at some cars, and was amazed how empty the dealerships were and how beaten down the sales people seemed. They lacked their ususal "zeal".

^^^I agree, they looked beaten and battered. The leases that I've seen have been pretty decent. For instance, Infiniti had a 1.8% interest rate on a 36 month lease for the 09 EX35 full loaded (sans navi). It was about $562/month for 12K miles w/ maintenance (oil and tire rotation) included and $0 down. Is this a good deal?

Also found an 09 Volvo S40 w/ cold weather package for 12K miles per year w/ $800 down for 36 months for $410/mth?

What do you guys think????

Talking

I have a friend at Fairfax Honda, VW, Volvo let me know if you need help. He got me a great deal on a Jetta 2 weeks ago. I would buy a Bimmer more money than VW or Volvo but much better build quality. Like the old saying goes You get what you pay for!!!!
