My next vehicle...
My next vehicle...
Before reading, keep in mind, I plan to post some pictures this evening.
Until then, I wanted to share some information about the next vehicle I am going to be purchasing. My last two vehicles were nice German types... S4 and an E55 with more than a few mods. With the pulley and tune on the E, it was impressive and gave a lot of cars a run for their money... well, that is until I had trouble hanging with Chris Ramos and his 996TT on a little run one afternoon on the Beltway or was it Mexico.
Either way, it was this day my eyes were finally opened to realize what a Turbo Porsche was all about, not to mention the other P-car drivers cruising with us the same day, few of their P cars were very impressive on some squat/goes and in some twisties.
Having said that, I recently sent payment for a 2002 996TT and the owner ended up having to keep it. I was bummed having searched for the past 3 to 4 months for the vehicle and thought it was a done deal. I am now glad it didn't work out because I stumbled on a cherry. Speaking of which, I am leaving work early today, heading North to purchase a 2002 996TT and I can’t wait. Of course, my patience has been tested at times and it didn’t help that I visited Chris Ramos’s last night and him giving me a spirited drive around the Fairfax area. Fun stuff and what a great guy!
Oh and I should note... it also doesn't help my patience when Berk "neighbor" starts his great looking 4S on a beautiful Saturday or Sunday morning giving off a rumble note (muffler bypass) throughout my house sounding as if I am standing just beyond the rear bumper. One can about imagine that certain mornings (this would be a great Porsche commercial by the way) upon start-up of Berk's 4S, myself having to jump out of bed, run down to the kitchen area where I stretch trying to hold all the kitchen cabinets closed so my dishes don't vibrate and walk themselves out of the cabinets and on the floor.
Bottom line and back to my car of choice... it is a 2002 996TT, silver over black with very low miles. K16/16Gs (1.2 bar) with coilovers, wheels/tires, and quite a few more goodies.
Lastly, I keep saying to myself, if I had only known now what I knew then regarding a Turbo Porsche, purchasing one back in the day might have saved me a lot of money over the years. Then again, pending the mod bug, it might have been more expensive had I chose to purchase a P-car earlier in life.
Cheers,
Allen
Inspiring picture I thought I would post.

congrats my man look forward to checking it out. I'm still Porsche-less right now but searching...2010 GT3RS. No luck so far but this time I'm willing to wait for it. Hopefully I can get my hand on one by the end of next year.
Thanks and congrats!
Thanks Van! If your 997TT had been available at this time I would have jumped on it quick. I was looking at 997TTs but none around with your mods, looking as great at the price you listed just made the rest of the 997TT adds look decent at best.
By the way, are you having withdraws?

2010 GT3RS, very nice!! Saw an article the other day on line about this car and I ended up stopping by the store and purchasing a mag just so I could read up on it. Touch of elegance with power/weight boot. Best of luck finding one.
See you out soon.
Cheers,
Allen
Allen - congrats big buddy!!! All you Turbo *****es in the Mid-Atlantic are making me go crazy to find a TT for myself too!!!! Hahahahahaha. Can't wait to see you pull up in the new TT when it comes home my man. We'll celebrate with a great run through some PW County Twisties....love the picture of that 997 you posted. I forget what the "series" was called but remember the video mentioned it was extremely rare and they were not planning on bringing any to the US.
Van - I call Shotgun Maiden Voyage in the 2010 GT3RS when you get it. My buddy in NJ just picked up a 2010 GT3 and he absolutely loves it. To put it in perspective, he is an avid Corvette Collector (owns 7 of them currently), has 2 Cayenne S's (06 and 09), a 987 Boxster (for the wifey) and a Ferrari 360 Spider. He said BY FAR, the 2010 GT3 is his most favorite car to drive out of all of them (granted 6 out of the 7 Vettes are collector cars driven less than 50 miles/yr), but still. Part of me wants to hold out for the 997 lines of the GT3 and TT's to drop, and other times I want to just pick up a decently/tastefully modded 6TT like Allen just bought.
Bottom line, the passion we all have for these cars is what it's all about and I learn a new thing from each of you and truly enjoy our comraderie.
Enjoy in good health Allen!!! And maybe you can return me the favor of shaking my dishes every time you start the engine.....sure as hell miss those days when you'd start that Cobra....I mean, crap, the first time you started that thing when you just moved in, I seriously thought someone was stealing my car.....hahahahahahahahaha.

I wasn't able to get pictures of the vehicle yesterday evening but I had saved a few pictures from one of the previous adds and they are posted below.
2002 Porsche 996TT w/17K miles.
K16/16Gs, DVs, 5 bar, EPL 1.2 bar tune, JIC coilovers, GT3 S-bars, BBS RS-GT 19s w/ new Michelin tires, GT2 front bumper, carbon fiber interior trim, looks like a 997 shifter, K40, 35% tint, bumper/hood clear bra, and a few other things. Stock bumper, wheels/tires come with the car along with a few other things the seller tossed in.
I plan on spending a day giving it a detail in and out... will also be picking up an intake and exhaust system and have the side skirts painted to match the car. I believe that will be it for now as the car really doesn't need anything.

Man that is sweet looking, congratulations! Now you need the GT2 wing to compliment the front bumper. And start looking for a replacement for the K40, they don't really work. Keep the checkbook open!!!
I'm not for sure if the GT2 wing does it for me. Thinking more along the lines of a Ruf wing a little later.
About the K40, my buddy has one and it seems to work great... will read up on it.
Oh and I believe I will hide my checkbook from myself.
