Front license tag In VA

I may be purchasing a P-car soon, and unlike the audi that I currently drive I really don't want to put a front tag on. I figure that most people have this same concern. I know they make a front tag holder that uses the tow hook point, but I don't want to ruin the flow of the car. How are you guys getting around this, or are you just going ahead and putting the front tag on? Thanks.

I tell VA cops to go F themselves and pay the once a year or so $70 ticket. never had a tag in 6 years on the following cars:
BMW 3, CLS55, E55, 996TT, Gallardo...

Only got two tickets in 5 years...one for the 996TT, cops was simply jealous 100%
the other for the 3 series, bc I did something else stupid and the cop couldnt prove it so she gave me a ticket for that instead.

If it's a weekender and you aren't a jerk on the road, you shouldn't have any problems.

I'd like to call Pej out and ask what the stupid deed was? Huh?

I got off with a couple of warning. Keep in mind once you get a ticket they'll keep checking whenever you're stopped.

HAHAHA...I passed a cop that was pulled over on a one lane road at 50mph and didnt slow down when I passed her. I wasnt speeding but the ***** said you have to slow down when passing emergency vehicles...I replied " I was unaware that rubber necking was a law" She said wait here...she went back and forth for like 20 min and came back saying where is your front tag? I replied " It didnt like being on the car, so I allowed it to sleep in the trunk for the time being" Being a smart *** earned me a ticket which was dismissed in court after I took a picture of the tag on the car being held by 3m tape but giving the impression that I complied.

I used to not run a front plate, I got away from that, but my current car does not have one yet. Just keep in mind, it is an easy way for an officer to legally stop you, and if he finds other issues expect it to get expensive (tint, exhaust note, radar detector etc etc).

Depends on the county and if you drive the Toll Road / 267. Occasionally Fairfax PD will set up Tax / Inspection / Plate stops at the off ramp (e.g., Tyson's / RT. 7)

If you drive through Dulles Airport to drop / pick up you may also get stopped as you do approach - especially on slow days.

If you head out on RT 15 North, through some of the other counties, you could get stopped since it is a one lane of travel in each direction.

Same is true for the North Shenandoah approach as well. A few years ago one of the car clubs did a run there and the most common experience was a no-front plate tag ticket.

On a random note METRO PARKING LOTS - if your sticker is expired they WILL tow your car AND pull the plates. They will also ticket you. You will need new plates to get the car...

Arlington sidewalk parking in meter spaces, will result in a warning or ticket.

Your mileage may vary, but the above were event(s) that happened to me or someone I know...

Just food for thought....

I thought Fairfax didn't have county property tax decal? I live in Loudoun and we still do. So, I'm surprised to see that Fairfax PD set up post to check county decals.

Good point, they no longer do have a sticker. I think they stopped in like 2007? I did see Fairfax PD this summer a few times at RT7 / 267 ramp stopping folks (toll violations and inspection stickers?).

Good food for thought...I still think I'll risk not having one on.

I put the front tags on the M this past summer. I got several no front tag tickets in a short span of time, all but one was given while I was parked and away from the car. The other one was given as I was going thru the check point onto Quantico. I will not put one on the porsche, as I don't drive it as often.
