Exotic Car Show for Non-Profit: Need Participants!!!
SubscribeHello all,
As some of you know, I organize the "reinvented" Northern Virginia Sports Car Club Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/novascc/) and I was contacted by Mary Sherrick the executive director of a non-profit in Pennsylvania who is hosting an exotic car show at the Antique Auto Museum (http://www.aacamuseum.org/). I assured her that I would do my best to round-up some cars so that’s why I’m posting. The event is expected to have about 400 attendees, participant prizes, and local media coverage, but this is the first year so they’re hoping for a particularly strong turnout.
The non-profit is called Castaway Critters and they help find placements for homeless animals. Here is a link to the organization and the event: http://www.castawaycritters.org/info/display?PageID=10040.
Now, I just want to say that I am in no way affiliated with Castaway Critters, other than the fact that I was contacted about getting some exotic cars together. However, I am uniquely involved with sports cars and with similar animal-related non-profits in Fairfax, VA, so I wanted to help her out.
Anyways, it should be a great time to spend the day at the museum and the Hersey, PA area. I’ll be organizing a cruise for the people who want to drive up from Northern VA and Maryland, so feel free to contact Mary directly and submit your registration form. The cost for each participate car is $20, which is a joke frankly. Otherwise, just PM me and I can send you more information. Again, here is the link to the participation form: http://www.castawaycritters.org/info/display?PageID=10040.
At this point, I don’t think Mary is worried about getting too many of one type of car….I think she just wants a lot of cool cars….so here is some basic information she provided about what they are looking for…
1st Annual Castaway Critters
“Cool Cars for Cats and Canines”
April 30, 2011 (10:00am-2:00pm)
Antique Auto Museum, Hershey
We are looking for owners of exotic cars to participate in our first Annual Exotic Car Show. Participants have the chance to showcase their cars, meet with other car enthusiasts, and compete for crowd voted favorites and win prizes. What is an “exotic” car by our definition? Most simply stated it is a car that has limited production, scarcity or has been personalized/created in an unusual way. It is generally not intended for a large market audience of buyers. If you see it on the road regularly, in parking lots, or a traffic jam, it is not an exotic car. Some examples of exotic cars are marques such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Bentley, Lotus, Bugatti, McLaren, Maserati, etc. Time-honored supercars, such as Porsches and Corvettes, among others, are also welcome. We want YOU and your special car. Come join us for a day of car fun and you’ll be helping homeless animals in need.
Your $20 donation will include the following:
One car entry into the show
Entry into the “Owners Tent” (complimentary breakfast/lunch)
One entrance ticket to the Antique Auto Museum
Registrations will be accepted until April 10th, 2011.
Please Return Registration Form, along with your $20 donation to:
Castaway Critters
c/o Mary Sherrick
410 Market St
New Cumberland, PA 17070
For more info, see our website at www.castawaycritters.org
Or call 717-919-0466
Again, I’m bringing my 2008 Viper and I think it’s a great excuse to get a bunch of owners together from around the area. It should be a great event and I’ve heard awesome things about the museum. Honestly, even if I wasn’t a participant, I would still go up and check out the cars. Again, please pass the information along to anyone you know who might be interested. Lastly, the participant application is still old school, which means that you’ll have to print it, sign it and mail it in, so if you’re interested, please do so promptly.

just an update...even just from a day or so ago when I posted this on Ferrarilife and Ferrarichat.com....there is already a lot of energy surrounding this event. If you can make it that weekend, I would definitely go. (or better yet, register as a participant).
I'd be interested. I have an 03 996 C4S that I've twin turbo'd, so definitely one off. Would that be okay? I can reach out to a few MAMC folks as well located up in the North Jersey area who could make the ride down. One could possibly bring down his GT2RS that he picks up some time in February. Have another GT2RS member down here in VA as well that I can reach out to as well as a 7.2 GT3RS owner.

Are you kidding!? Of course! I think they all sound awesome!! Definitely get the word out to anyone that you know that has something special. Just have them contact Mary Sherrick or Castaway Critters directly.Originally Posted by boochook

I know of a few guys from Ferrarichat.com that will be coming....360 spider....430 Scud...I think someone is brining a Murcielago....I forget what else. I sprinkled posts around a bunch of forums so there should be a great turnout and the museum is pretty cool too. They only thing to remember is to make sure and submit the application and $20 donation...or at least email Mary soon so that she can keep a list of what's coming....and so she can advertise the show as having...this and that.
As for those who are planning on driving up....I'm still not sure what makes the most sense. I'm debating whether or not to drive up the night before and get a hotel room...it will be about a 3 hr drive from Centreville, VA (where I live) and the show opens at 10:00a....and I'm not sure when she wants all the cars there...so I figure I'll have to leave by at least by 6:00a which isn't that bad really....so we'll see. Thoughts?

That definitely fits the bill... just make sure to submit the participation form.Originally Posted by deckman

Been meaning to ask you. Can you give me a breakdown of your thoughts between the CLK63 BS and the GT3? I'd like to hear it especially from someone who owns both. I'm looking at another PCar, but something keeps drawing me back to the 63BS. Feel free to PM so we don't hijack this thread of course. Thanks.
BTW - I think I saw your GT3 at IMA a few weeks ago at an event he hosted. Looks gorgeous.

Hi All,
My name is Tom Clark from Mechanicsburg, PA. My wife is the chairman of "Castaway Critters". This show is a fund raiser for the organization. We really need your cars. We have about 30 cars attending so far, half of them are Ferrari's. There are also some very cool "special" cars that will be at the show.
Guys, this event is for a super worthy cause. Any support you can lend would be greatly appreciated.
We are currently putting together brochures/flyers/advertising, and we need pictures of cars that will actually be at the event. You can email me your pics at: spec348@comcast.net
We will photoshop out any license plates, or anything personal that you would like deleted.
This show is a bargain. You pay 20 bucks to participate, and you get breakfast AND lunch in the owners tent, not to mention the commraderie of true car enthusiasts. Additionally the price includes admission into the Antique Automobile Museum at Hershey. This is a beautiful museum and we are very fortunate that we are able to hold the event there.
Last, but not least, you are helping homeless animals recieve vaccinations, medical treatment and food. That in itself is worth the price of admission!!!
I hope to see many of you there, and again, send me those pics.
Thanks for your consideration and participation.
