Wheel repair/refinishing in DC/MD/VA

Any good sources...I am considering having a set of SSR Gt3 wheels refinished, slight scratches and some curb rash on the lips but the centers look fine...just want them to look like new again ...

Was also *maybe* thinking of having the lips painted body color...just a thought....so wanted a place that can do not only refinishing and polishing but if needed some custom cosmetic/paint work on the wheels...

thanks all

I've used Brian Dean who has a mobile service

my review below from another forum:

Some of you may have probably used this guy's services, but for those that haven't read below:

Did some researching on Rim Repair for the Northern Virginia area, and came down to Ye Olde Wheel Shop, and Mr. Brian Dean of Wheel Pro. Seeing that Brian works the NOVA area, and is mobile (can come to your place) I called him up. He came over to my home in the McLean area with his gear and did a fantastic job fixing some curb rash on my stock OEM 19's on my M3, with refinishing the entire rim. The wheel looks good as new, and I can't even see where I had the curb rash anymore.

Nice guy, easy to set up an appointment, and I would recommend. He charged $150 for the one wheel and his contact info is below:

The Wheel Pro
Mr Brian Dean
(c) 703-408-7501
(o) 888-659-8232

506 Shaw Rd #316
Dulles, VA, 20166

He offers cosmetic wheel repair and refinishing for:
painted wheels
machined wheels
polished wheels

Nice write up...wondering if he does aftermarket wheels also, like polished lips and uses a lathe for measuring run out...to fix if they need any minor straightening to get re-trued

he should be able to do aftermarket wheels, i don't see the difference, a wheel is a wheel. Call him up and ask?

I thought they did the work in house?? Talked to Brian for a while...discussed some ideas on painting the centers, barrels, lip etc ....he says he could dissasemble and re-assemble as well as true out the barrels and correct scratches and curb rash where needed...seemed like they do it all in house at their shop but for small jobs they can drive out to the customer...

I'm not planning on having this done for a bit, have a couple of other items on my mind prior to wheels...

Well, it's dependent on the damage and whether or not it needs to have some metal shavings added to it. Some of these repair places do not even take the tires off, let alone take the wheels off the car. You have to be careful with that form of repair, b/c the solvent needs time to firm in place and could be MONTHS before you can wash the car. Plus, if you're not careful, the clear coat can flake off. Had this happen with my previous wheel repair on my 3-piece wheel w/ bent lip to a company that repaired cars at HBL. So, caveat emptor......just my $.02.

agreed I would like the tires dismounted and the (1) have the wheels checked for trueness and runout (2) have any scapes or scratches/anomolies fixed (3) have any custom work done if I choose to go that route, like painted barrel or lips (4) tires remounted and balanced properly

the wheels are ssr gt3 from a couple of years back, still a sturdy, fairly light, 2 piece, and fantastic looking wheel IMO, but maybe some slight customization would look nice on them...

Sunir, if this is the same Brian Dean that I know, I grew up with him from grade school through high school in Arlington. Brian has owned several automotive shops as his father started and owned the Car Doctor in Falls Church for many years. If this is the same Brian he is a strait up guy and will not overstate what he can deliver. I have not seen him in a couple of years and last I heard he was the owner of Manassas motorsports. I will call the number you posted to see if it is him, because the champions I have on my car need a few touch ups to one lip. If it is him, I will let him repair mine and you can take a look and see if that works for you.
