Just wanted to post a heads up for everyone, on the 22nd after c+c I will be headed up to parkton Maryland to attend the annual Oktoberfest party/fundraiser for the local ferret shelter.

Not sure if anyone else here has or has had ferrets, but they're awesome little creatures, and the shelter does some really great work and outreach to the community. I've adopted from them twice, and the shelter director Barb is great to deal with.

The shelter is called Rocky's ferret rescue, and in addition to the fundraiser/party they are also hosting a raffle online to benefit the shelter. Website for the raffle is rockysraffles.com and while most of the stuff is ferret related, there is always some cool non ferrety stuff as well!

If anyone would be interested in coming out on the 22nd, there will be food and drinks, as well as a dj, shelter animals to play with, and nice fall scenery on the way up. I believe a 20 dollar donation gives you a grazing permit allowing you to eat and drink as much as you like.

I'll post up more details, and maybe plan a nice drive up if anyone is interested...

 

I have too many other things going on that day, but ferrets are so awesome (except that they love to steal your socks and hide them in weird places)! My dad had a couple when I was growing up as a kid.

 

I hear they are giving away a white water rafting trip on the raffle site!

 

That would be cool! Flop up a timeline and a map and I may try to make it after all the other stuff I have on that day.
