Having the vette tuned on dec 2nd...
Well, after dealing with some horrible **** at work this week, and having slept 4 hours in the last 36, I headed out to Frederick friday morning to have my tune done!
I was second on the dyno, and as usual, my car decided to throw a fit.... The techs couldnt get the bung out of my header collector to install the wideband, and despite an efffort to use the tailpipe wideband, we had to unstrap the car and throw it on the lift so we could torch and remove the bung!
Back on the dyno again after Ed spent some time with a CTS-v while I was on the lift, and MAN, my car is LOUD at WOT! Lots of Black smoke, and I'm worried at this point, but I trust Ed and things seem to be clearing up the more he runs the car... At this point, we've all moved outside to get away from the noise a bit
Ed spent lots of time with the car, before we strapped it down the first time, we went for a ride and datalogged the car in normal street driving to get an idea of how it was running, and he probably spent 2 hours or more on the actual dyno with it.
Final numbers were 438whp, and 455rwtq.... And I'm happy with those at this point
More importantly Ed gave me some insight as to how healthy the car is and some direction as far as the next steps to take as far as mods go. Any black smoke we're seeing from here on out is carbon build up caused by a shoddy previous tune... and my oil issue is most likely valve guides based on the fact that we're seeing oil burn on engine braking/decel and the fact that the car still performs so well.
More than anything I now have some peace of mind regarding the car, I was able to actually enjoy beating on the car a bit yesterday on the way home, which I havent been able to do until now..... 400 lb/ft at 2200rpm is a blast!!!!!
I'd recccomend Ed Hitchings to anyone that needs a tune on their LS based car!

Nice, congrats to you Ken. Mind if I ask what he used to tune you with? I have a friend with a cts-v thats looking to get tuned so maybe i'll send him to your tuner.
Val, Ed uses Hptuners for the vettes afaik.... He tuned several cts-v's yesterday, and they were very happy with the results.... one of them I believe some of you guys are familiar with, has the vanity tag "evil V", and has been to a few of the c+c's at maple lawn. I'm horrible with names and unfortunately forget his, cool guy though, and a NASTY cts!
Glad you finally got it done. Ed is good people and his attention to detail is awesome. I wanted to drop off my C5 with him this winter, but I had some other things I had to really get done first.
We'll probably still see a bit of smoke for a while... Tuner said there is a lot of carbon build up from the previous tune being shoddy... He told me to "beat the **** out of it" for a while and it should clear up
the more pulls he did on the dyno, the less carbon burned off, an the exhaust cleared up considerably

I got a chance to really rip into it in the harbor tunnel on sunday
scared Wendy pretty good! Did a 3rd gear pull form about 30mph and broke the rear end loose... Couldn't stop smiling!
