It's a long trip ... In a group it could be fun though, I've driven clear across country twice... Both times in my sl55amg Baltimore to LA and the from LA to Phoenix then back to baltimore... Took me 4 days out did the return trip la to phoenix in one day then over past alburquerque into the pan handle to Amarillo .... By the next day I found myself in little rock arkansas just outside of Memphis (great for ribs and bbq) ... Then I did my longest stint from little rock to baltimore in 15 hrs, with breaks of course for food, fuel etc... I just kept driving... Day turns into night and you just keep going. Made it back in 3 days from phoenix having averaged as much as 92 mph with breaks on some stints (southwest is flat and straight) ...setting some personal top speed runs out in the western legs and routinely getting 900 to 1100 miles down each stint... It's a long haul boys be prepared

We figure it out guys, I'm seriously considering this. My dad is on assignment in Houston, my buddy lives in Austin (who's Bachelor Party I'm going to in Miami in April) and HELL MAN, I may not be here one day to enjoy it, so I look at life as NOW OR NEVER!

Burke bro if you've never tried a cross country drive you should do it...heck yoiu're only going to TX it's closer 1400 miles is a breeze...can be easily done in 2 days at 700 miles per day. With other cars in a caravan it will be fun but it will also take more coordination...walkie talkies are a good idea. Also have a GREAT radar detector...my Valentine 1 picked up 14 bogies and a handful of speed traps along the way back...going out west I caught even more I think it was like 17 bogies, anyway it's a life saver...also bring snacks, water, a road map, and a garmin/tom tom navi unit with latest mapping software, a 12v power splitter so you can run multiple accesories. I did 2 cross country trips cruising with high avg mph and many miles of WOT cruising without a single ticket each way...that's approx 6K miles back & forth combined...V1 is THAT good!

Got a 10 year old sr1... Mich be time to upgrade. However it goes I have No interest in dropping $7500 in a random state to stay mostly out of jail like on of my previous adventures. I need every dime for F1 tix. I'll have to find out exactly what my 'spot in line' got me!

mangle is infamous around these parts
I did a cross country and back last winter... Boston-Chicago first day, Chicago to Laramie, Wyoming where I was stopped by a snow storm on the second, Laramie-Jackson on the third. Coming back, I went Tahoe-San Diego (mostly route 1 until I got stopped by a rock slide somewhere north of LA), San Diego-Phoenix, Phoenix-Dallas, Dallas-Shreveport, LA where I rested for a day, Shreveport-Durham NC with a stop in Nashville, then back to DC. I didn't care to spend another instant in that Jeep for quite a while. Luckily, that vehicle seems to be invisible to cops.
