Cool Balsy Thread - Anyone considering a Road Trip down to Austin GP in November?

November 18th is the event. I'm thinking an old fashioned RALLY with a couple stops on the way perhaps.

Ashburn, VA to Houston, TX is 21 hours 36 mins / 1394.28 miles

1st Overnight (Knoxville, TN) which is like 485 miles from here
2nd Overnight (Mobile, AL) which is 510 miles from Knoxville, TN

FINAL DESTINATION OF HOUSTON, TX which is 468 Miles from Mobile, AL

Nothing special planned, no over-planning, this is just a car guy really thinking he needs a "REASON TO JUST DRIVE" and is extending the invite to friends to join in!!! I've got a best buddy who lives in Austin and I can talk to him about where to find accomodations but to be honest, if it's intimate enough, he'd be willing to host a bunch of us. Parking is the only thing we gotta figure out kiddos.

Just a thought so if anyone's interested, lemme know.

LIFE IS SHORT!!!

I am planning on going! It would be awesome to go as a group.

I also have a spot in line for tix, I threw down the $100 a month ago but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

By the way the 'spot in line' allows me to get a number of tickets, not just one.

Berk, look out it may turn out to be a "BerkBall 1300" race.
I do love to drive but I think I'll be stretching it and considering there is limited room in my car (cross bar), my wife and kid may not enjoy the ride as much unless I drive the family car.

You know, word came up last Fall about hitting the dragon. I would rather a group of us go the extra mile and head to TX. I've never driven longer than a 10 hr trip. Only live once.

DRIVE DRIVE DRIVE

my original plan was to pull a seat out of the 928 and fill that side with a sleeping bag. That, a case of redbull and my sunglasses are all I need.

Not sure how well I'd repeat my past exploits. I did the Rochester NY to Boise ID once on a GPz750, (yes a bike) and twice in an SVO mustang. Chicago to Boise in the 928, and Boise to Bristow in a uhaul.

The 928 is a continent cruiser, should make a good drive!
