Anyone have access to a lift for DIY work?

I'm looking to do some DIY exhaust work on my ride, but I don't have access to a lift. I'm not much of a wrench turner, but exhaust work seems pretty easy, so I'd hate to pay a shop $85 an hour to do it for me. Plus, it seems most shops don't like it (or straight up won't do the work) if you don't buy parts through them.

There was a shop called DIY Mechanics in Sterling where you could do your own auto repairs on their lifts with rental tools, but they apparently closed down last Summer.

Any suggestions?

My FIL has a professional lift, I could check to see if he's willing to loan it out.

If you can find someone with DoD access you can go to Ft Meade. Thay have a great garage and auto skills center. 20 bays and like 10 plus lifts. All snap on tools and pretty much any special tools you would need. Its like $8 an hour to rent a two post lift with tools. Good luck!

Good call, DT! My dad is a retired Army officer of 22 years and has a lifetime pass to Army facilities. I also have an Army CAC, so between the two of us, the base garage will probably be our best bet.

Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah, the hours are alittle lame during the week and you have to call ahead to find out when they are having the orientation class .... its a 15 min video and shop walk through. But the rewards def out weigh the costs. I have my own personal shop down in SoMD so I use Ft. Meade alot to save the drive.
