VA safety and emission inspection

Just got a new ride (r8) and don't have front plates. Are front plates needed to pass the inspection(safety)? What does every one do each year? Thanks in advance for your input.

My car passed inspection the last 6 years without a front plate - no problem.
You can get a ticket for not having it, though. (Ask me how I know...)

Thanks guys. Just got inspection done. The whole repair shop stopped working to come check out the car when I pulled into the garage. Got a lot of compliments but no free inspection.

Hi ADubM3,

Does Audi have a front plate bracket that bolts on under the bumper? My old 3000GT VR4 Mitsubishi had a bracket that bolted under the bumper, and when I took the car to shows I just unbolted the bracket and front plate.

Did you have your Audi out to Fair Lakes about a month ago? You parked behind my car, I just got my VA tags but no biggie for me since the previous owner had it registered it in MD and they drilled right into the front bumper to mount the plate bracket.

I don't know why on these expensive cars they can't have two tabs with bolt holes for a mounting bracket so they don't have to drill holes into the bumper.

See ya soon, and they are right cops like those cars and they will check for front plates, don't need to give them a reason to pull you over.

Dave

Dave,

Yes I did park behind your nice MB. Love the color. I'm looking into other ways to mount the brackets. We'll see how it goes, I know it's just a matter of time before the cops stop me if I don't put front plates on.

Toshi
