RunFlats or 2 sets of tires?

Hey all,
We have a 2007 S, just turned 42K miles of fun. The original run flat tires are shot, and I am debating going with another set of run flats, or a set of summer wheels/tires and a set of snow wheels/tires. Chicago winters can get snowy.
But then with no spare what do we do, aside from have a current AAA card and cell phone handy?
Thanks.

you got 42k on one set of runflats?? luck you. I was getting my THIRD set of Goodyear Eagle RSA's at 27k...

I have now switched to a non-run flat tire (currently Falken RT-615) and would never get another set of run-flats. (knock on wood) I've never gotten a flat tire with the run-flats or otherwise. Generally speaking, non run-flat tires are cheaper, last longer and have more grip plus, come in a wider variety of styles, applications and sizes. I treated myself to some new rims when I switched to the new tires but kept the old s-lites for the winter even though I generally don't take it out too much my car doesn't clear too much more than a couple inches of snow (or anything else for that matter.)

I have an R53 so I'm not too familiar with your boot, but on the passenger side in mine, there is a little compartment / access panel and I put a slime kit in there for an emergency. I got it at pep boys for maybe 20bux and it came with a tube of slime and a small air compressor that plugs into the cigg lighter.

Yeah we got 42K on those run-flats, and it kinda feels like we are riding on the rims they are so hard.
You tried the Goodyears and went to the Falkens I see. I have heard great things about the Falkens. Looking forward to summer driving.

I forgot to mention how much better the ride is, even being dropped pretty low on coil-overs... The side walls on run-flats are sooooo hard (obviously)

I ditched the run flats within the first 5k miles for Goodyear F1's. They were really quiet, comfortable and handled really. You will not be disappointed with the switch.

run flats suck. even if you had to use your AAA once, it would be worth it.

I agree... Runflats are so loud... Go with the non run flats and you will be happier...

BTW: I got only 16K from my Dunlops on a 2006 S..
