New Stable Mate for the 997

Another knee jerk reaction on Friday..I bought a Mini! If you haven't seen the deals on these little cars lately and are in need of a DD, I highly recommend looking at one. The deals are insane!

I must say, the buying experience I had was absolutely fantastic. Huw John @ Irvine Mini was extremely professional, very well versed with Mini (He is a Brit that owns 3) and just an all around nice guy. I dropped by the dealership unannounced at 5 pm looked at a few.. drove one and I was sold..on my way home by 7pm (most time spent trying to decide on color, specs etc).
Thanks Huw!!

What a fun little car! Its so easy to toss around and so damn stable, you cant help but to have a big smile when driving it. The kids call it the clown car and OREO..I call it fun and a great bang for the buck. Cant wait for my first autocross.

Mods are on the way! Next time you see it it will be 1.5" lower. Sharky got a tune??

Here it is Pepper White & Black:

Welcome to Mini-Land. We bought a 2006 Cooper S and it's been a great car. Yours seems to sit a lot higher than ours does - I wonder? I had to repace the stock Dunlops at only 26K and I went with the Continental Contipro Contact SSR tires. Big improvement. Enjoy - we just turned over 30K and it still looks & drives like the day we picked it up.

Thanks guys! Already put 250 miles on it since Friday. Avg 28 mpg with 2 canyon runs and a trip to LA. Very surprised how much grunt this little car makes off the line...the brakes are pretty damn good too. So far very glad I pulled the trigger.

Slik560- Yes it looks like a little 4x4 right now...that will change very soon.

Truble10 is infamous around these parts
I know nothing about Mini's but I have a base model as a loaner while my M5 is being serviced. I must say I'm not impressed. I know there is an 'S' model - I hope it is a big upgrade.

It is. The "s" has approx 60 hp and tq more than the standard cooper. The little turbo is a nice add on to the direct injection motor. Can't believe it gets 36 mpg on the highway.

I found the 'sport' button on the base model...that helps. After three days in the car for commuting I admit I would like to drive the 'S' model. Certainly a nice bump in MPG vs. the M5

Ain't that the truth! I think my m6 spends more time at the gas pump than on the road. But it sounds o so sweet...worth the price of admission!

They are great cars! You can embarrass a lot of high horsepower cars in the twisties with them.
