Advantage Dean is infamous around these parts

Hello everyone! I've been a member on here for a couple of weeks now, and so I thought that I had better take the time to formally introduce myself.

My name's Deano and I've spent the majority of my working life in the car industry. I started out as fresh-faced young mechanic working for Fiat in the mid-1990's. Anyone who's familiar with Fiat products from the late 1980's or early 1990's, will appreciate that as being an excellent introduction to how a brand-new car can begin rusting away before it has even gotten off the boat... I've also spent some time working on Volkswagen Group and BMW Group cars, before joining Aston Martin at Gaydon in 2010. I spent ten years with Aston, in various different positions, climbing the slippery corporate ladder from basic vehicle production, vehicle rectification, SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) , CCM (Carbon Ceramic Material) brake dynometer test rig and two years of vehicle testing. Having said that, my main skill set is electronics and software on those vehicles. Unfortunately, I was made redundant two years ago, along with 650 other poor souls, due to Covid-19. I'm now doing contract work for Bugatti on there gearbox and transmission systems (Veyron, Chiron, Bolide, etc, it's all technically the same family of gearboxes and associated transmissions).

In terms of personal car ownership and passions, I grew up in a "Ford Family", and so even though the majority of you guys are based in the United States of America and Canada, if I name-drop previous pleasures such as the "Ford Sierra RS Cosworth", you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The "Ford vs General Motors" battles that rage in the United States of America, Canada and Australia, also took place in the United Kingdom. On our rain-swept little island, it was "Ford of Europe vs Vauxhall (a subsidiary of General Motors)". Many a night and weekend has been spent, taking a small, turbocharged four cylinder european Ford product and winding-up the "boost"...

I look forward to engaging with many of you in the future!

Kind Regards,
Deano 🤓👍
