Saw the GTR at the Dealer
I was on my way home from the GYM while in the M6 when I spotted the Nissan GTR at the dealer. I hit a U-turn to stop by and check it out. Really is an amazing car. Had the opportunity to sit in it, and go over a few numbers with the manager. Dealer has 22 on a list right now with 18 allocations. They want $2,000 down for a spot, and I am really considering it. However, they are asking $90, and that price can go up at any point even with a deposit down. PM if interested in knowing what dealer. Don’t want to put it out their for everyone just yet since I am considering getting one and will know by tonight if I’m going to be #23.
You can find deals out there commonly as low as $5k over MSRP if you want to go that route. But paying the minimum of a $18k markup which isn't even a locked rate with a deposit is ridiculous.
There's actually one driving around my area here in Ontario Canada, I think it belongs to Nissan HQ.........
It's to bad that they're hiking up prices in the US...we're a bit lucky up here in Canada, dealers aren't allowed to hike up the MSRP on the car , but then again I think MSRP here is $81,200 CAD....

pine belt nissan in new jersey is taking 5000 dollar deposit... they are asking for 8k over msrp, which is 72.5kfor the premium package+the 8k. they are getting 5 allocations in july n august, but theres only 3 people on the list... hope this will help, even if they ship the car to you, you can still save 5k plus.
FYI, allocations are already assigned to the dealership, they know how many cars they're getting this first year and can place preorders for them at any point. When they get built is another question as it seems they nationally going by what number at the dealership they're ordered in versus when the order is actually placed for national coverage. That is even if the #1 and #2 allocation orders were placed on the same day, only #1 will be getting a build date... right now people who are the second preorderers at their dealer have been notified on their est build and arrival date.
Sounds like Pine Belt is giving people a line....

That's about 3 more than any other dealer has been confirmed of getting in the US for july/aug. Sounds like a stand-up dealership, Caveat Emptor.

pine belt is the largest nissan dealership in nj... second largest would be DCH and they are selling em at 10k over msrp.
I'm not saying they have 5 pre-orders in (obviously if only 3 are spoken for at least 2 are preconfigured by the dealer and not by the customer) but I'd challenge them to show that all 5 have build dates assigned with delivery dates in july/aug. Again, not likely.

I had a crappy experience dealing with my local Nissan dealer about ordering a GTR. 4-5 attempts to talk to someone over the phone and nobody called me back, finally talk to someone and he doesn't know crap about the car. Decided to forget the whole thing and sat on it for a few weeks. Sunday I figured I would go in person and speak to someone. It went down like this.
Me: "Do you have a GTR salesperson here today?"
Receptionist: "What's a GTR?"
Me: '"Nissan is coming out with a new car and there is supposed to be a specialist at every GTR certified dealership."
Receptionist: (still staring at me like she doesn't understand what I'm talking about)
Me: "Could you ask your manager please?"
Receptionist: "Go over there and see <******bag>."
Me: "Hi, I'm interested in a GTR do you have any info on your allocations?"
******bag: "I have 5 allocations and 2 are sold."
Me: "Can I select options and color?"
******bag: "I don't know."
Me: "Do you have an ETA?"
******bag: "No"
Me: "How much over MSRP?"
******bag: "$40k"
Me: "If I offered you $15k over right now would you consider it?"
******bag: "No"
My son and I left but the most remarkable thing was they were the most unfriendly bunch of *******s I had ever met. Everybody from the receptionist to the manager (a.k.a. ******bag). I had visions of the Seinfeld soup **** episode. What good is a car like the GTR when you have dealerships like this? Now I know for sure I will never consider owning one again because even if I bought it from another dealership, I would have to get it serviced at ******bag's dealership.
BTW, how is it possible that your dealership has an allocation of 18 cars? That sounds awfully high for one dealership.

Please don't anyone pay $18,000 over sticker for this car! $10,000 I understand but $18K over? Come on that's a 25% mark up over sticker and it all goes to the dealer. Don't support that!!
Off soap box now, thank you and have a nice day.

A month or so ago, my friend went to go check the new M3's and the salesperson asked for $105,000 i think? Pretty ridiculous. I hate how dealerships over-price cars soo much just so you can get them a little earlier.
