Edmunds Test: Nissan GT-R v the World: GT-R v R8 v 911 v STI v Evo v Elise
why wouldnt they put the 911 turbo in there? they tested all AWD cars and then a RWD 911??? a BASE 911 with 325 hp...they make these tests sooo gay these days.

I agree. They definitely should have put in the 997TT and the Z06. It would have been more interesting.
should have been 911 turbo, z06, viper, f430, gallardo...those would have made for a great test.
Yes, more making the GTR look better than it is by comparing it to cars that have no chance of competing with it...The GTR is a great performing car and I believe the numbers, but lets see some real tests with some cars that are in the same power range!

actually loose the 911 and the elise and stick in an M3, an SL65 AMG, some sort of roush mustang and an aston martin DBS and you have IMHO a test of cars that are similar in terms of purpose and market segment albeit all over the place pricewise.
no matter how fast the GTR is or how low its nurburgring time gets its still not a sports car in the way a 911 or elise is and in the way all previous GTRs werent either. its certainly got monster performance and is a track monster like that whole line of cars beginning with R32 and indeed theyve honed this version down now so it no longer feels like a subaru or evo in terms of driving experience but a true sports car it certainly isnt, that is unless you class a sports car simply on the basis of performance figures like so many sadly do it seems.
i personally think in the way this car feels its in a class of its own, theres nothing in a similar vein that is even close performance wise to this and i think many manufacturers are going to take hits from this however i dont see porsche being one of them in any meaningful way. i cant see who would have a 911 and an r35 on the same shopping list purely because ignoring speed the needs they satisfy and the experience they give are so different. one is chocolate ice cream and the other strawberry.
