Pros and cons of both cars for sure and I dont have extensive miles in the GTR yet:
TT
Great looks, classy, prestige, interior, modable quickly.

GTR
Odd looks, what you'd expect from Nissan interior, clunky trans, whinning driveline, no turbo lag, no lean, much more confident/secure mid-high sweepers, big price savings. But a Nissan.

GTR, being new I suppose and cult following, draws crowds everywhere. cars pull over, people film it, cops come over to drool...never seen anything like this.

Fun to try, see if I like it enough to make it past 6 months.

I am also from LA and I know of the brands of cars that cause people to react in LA. Judging from your rather exciting report, your "LA" must be Louisiana? Kidding... kidding...

You'll want to grab an AccessPort from Cobb Tuning. +70HP for $995 and you can do the flash yourself. Higher power is available (for free) if you get high-flow cats and new exhaust.

That depends on if money is no object or not, doesn't it?

 

Real-world price difference is very small between the two, every GT-R on ebay is around $100k. if you can afford the GT-R, you can afford the 911 Turbo.

 

Real world GT-R's are selling for 5k or 10k over msrp...which is 80-85k. A 997TT is costing around 110k-120k last time I checked..


There IS a difference

 

GTR's can be had for under $90k, new.
The TT is $110k used.
TT is mroe special looking IMO
GTR is faster and more confidence inspiring.
I think the GT3 may be better than both. Better doent imply faster.

which is better depends on what your priorities are?

- do you keep your cars stock or you mod?
- what's your budget?
- purely street driving, or lots of track action?
- straightline speed... or twisties?
- how important is a comfortable ride?
- how important is the brand?
- how important to have the latest, newest and most talked-about?
- preference for looks (which is highly subjective)
- outright speed at all costs? or driver involvement and doing the work yourself?

at least half the silly arguments about porsche vs GTR stem from differences in where one stands on the above...

 

Yes, bottom line it is always going to be a subjective thing, even your good points may or may not apply (ie GTR happens to fulfill everything we wanted, latest and greatest not a factor and driver involvement very important).

And yeah there are a lot of silly arguments when it boils down to simple brand allegiance and opinions formed without any real experience with the item in question.

 

The G.T.R is a sweet looking/performance ride! Personally I would never pay above MSRP just because the stealership is tacking it on. Last note: A GTR will ALWAYS, and I repeat ALWAYS be a NISSAN...And a Twin Turbo will always be a PORSCHE! Porsche, there is no substitute...

 

Yeah, there are Loved our 997, but it was not perfect, all cars have different strengths and weaknesses and plenty are and will be worth the experience and great to drive and own.

 

You say that is if it's a bad thing.

It's elitist, snobbish attitudes like that that plague the automotive community. A real automotive enthusiast will praise a car for its performance capabilities without any care for what badge is on the hood.
