Cayman Kills GTR
What car and driver recorded, and what most here will record on track are two different scenarios all together... I'm talking Green/blue run group students, who are the bulk of CaymenS buyers, at least at the events I attend...
And I've yet to hear of a GT-R running VIR full at 1:55, please link me to that article.

Actually thats a pathetic time for a Cayman.....C&D got 2:13 from a FWD 08 Chevy Cobalt and a 2:12 from an 06 350z. The Cayman S they ran at VIR did 2:09 the same day as the 350z's time. To put it in perspective the GTR did 1:55 secs at VIR full course. It would take a horrible driver or a really tight short course for a Cayman S or bolt on Cayman to hang with a GTR. But thats why you race. Driver is the biggest mod.
Id love to see the RUF Cayman with 440hp take on the GTR. That would be interesting.

I read Ken's post and he was joking about posting the Cayman posting at 6speed. So get over it. I like both cars but no by no means did I ever think Ken was being ego-centric or make comments that the GTR was nothing great. He proved that people can have fun and keep up with the higher HP cars on shorter tracks.
It is so much the driver that you MAGAZINE racers need to get out on the track instead if you are going to be giving quotes of mags.

That's my point exactly... I drive VIR quite frequently in a much higher HP car than the GT-R is (I'm making over 530WHEEL hp and you can add 40HP to that when I'm running 100 Octane race fuel) and I can think of less than 30 people that frequent this board that are tracking any car below a 2:05 and none of them are pro drivers or even amature racers. THey're just good, solid DE drivers.

What is your time "PRO_DRIVER"? That's what I thought.

Mike - from the laptimes I have seen thats pretty strong what you run. I might make a visit out there next year if some people from ATL go. I was going to go this year for the PCA event but wasn't in town.
How much neg. camber were you running? -3 ?
I run a hybrid alignment on my Turbo and just recently raised it to GT2 spec height due a rebound issue with the Bilsteins being too low. I am used to KW's being able to be dropped quite a bit and still give good dampening and rebound. The PASM Bilsteins don't have that much wiggle room and I tested that out first hand. It was jittery in transitions especially in a sharp hair pin turn or short sweeps. It's finally correct and I can't be happier.
I am not strong on a track and the last time I was on one was with an E36. I haven't taken the Turbo out for real track duty yet. Not comfortable with that yet

I believe the reference is to the above article. However, it's 2:55.6 around the 4.2 mile Grand Course, not 1:55, for the GT-R.

I spent the first 25 days driving this car with the suspension maxed out on stock settings with stock control arms, at 2 degrees negative rear and 1.5 negative front. As I improved my driving at various courses, I eventually started killing the outter edges on my Michelin PS Cups, cording them within 6 days use. Rears would give up before the fronts. Finally in Late July I installed some front lower GT3 arms and rear upper AP control arms and dialed in 2.9 negative front and 2.5 negative rear and am getting full use of the tires. Problem is, next time out I had one full day with the car on track at Summit point, sorting it out and getting used to much quicker turn in, and on the 2nd session of day 2 I hit a ground hog at 137MPH on the front straight....
About 4 weeks later I went to VIR and had one session on the full course layout warming the car up (PCA Potomac Event) in white run group, when 20 minutes into the session my clutch hydraulics let go, as the accumilator had loosened itself up, spewing pentosin everywhere... That ended the weekend... But on that ONE run, I managed a 2:10.21, My fastest time ever, and I was just out warming up and getting reacquainted with the track and the quicker turn in on the car... What I noticed in that 20 minutes was even though my top speeds on the long sections was down (as I was just warming up), all the talent sections picked up 4-7mph everywhere that was "slow". So it's reasonable to assume that without a mechanical failure or incident, I'd have logged some quicker times during the weekend... Oh well, what could have been...

I need to get my rear out to the track. Waiting til spring next year to see if i can swing a great deal on 01/02 Turbo for the track. It sounds stupid to have two Turbo's but not going to risk the chance of putting my current car on a wall
..I can drive a mean mountain run though.. haha

I ABSOLUTELY think the times reported by the GTR are legit and have the feeling it "WILL" be the real deal in coming years. Nissan F'ed the tranny, just like they did the 350Z and they'll fix it, and the other issues. I think at the end of the day it will be a GREAT car, two years out... The ******* idiot TOOLS who think I hate the car are ignorant, morons who haven't heard me...
I bleed NISSAN and have for TWO+ decade. They F'ed the marketing on this car, but will get it right...

The GT-R didnt run 1:55 on the full course, it ran 2:55 on the grand course.
How could you post so many lap times without noticing that you had the first digit wrong in all of them???

What does what I run have to do with anything? I was marely trying to show that the Cayman S was faster than a 2:17 but all you guys saw was GTR 1:55 lmao..Nevermind that all the times I posted were off, the GTR at 1:55 just burned a hole in your brain. I posted in haste and screwed up the times. Also I was not aware there was a difference between the Full and Grand course. My appologies on both counts but I think you guys are seriously overreacting lol. I see the GTR hate creeped in and colored your understanding of what I was trying to get accross. Now I understand the GTR hype is tiresome but not everyone that mentions the GTR has an agenda. I doubt the Ring times like any logical person so I understand the typo 1:55 bringing up the same feeling but please relax. Its realy not that serious
