Nissan GT-R SpecV unveiled!
there is a launch control feature that nissan encourages everyone to use.
there is no warranty voidance.
and i'm curious as hell on what you think the launch control button looks like.
In all honesty, I am not threatened whatsoever, when the GTR gets up to 700-800hp, then maybe, but not until. Yep, I can buy just about anything I want, the 996tt's are an unbeatable value, couldn't care less about badges, but obvioulsy you do.
The joke was really on Nissan for marketing a car that can do 0-60 in x IF it uses the forbidden traction control, however that invalidates the warranty. When you do break a tranny, and there is documented history of this, it will cost $20,000 as the Engine and tranny's are mated 1:1 at the factory.
Now because you have called me out as one of those dirty "porsche owners", let me say this, I have had several Supra turbos, 4 NSX's, S2000, 355F1 and a few Saleens and Rustangs, all had their weaknesses and while the GT-R is an interesting car, I wouldnt go near it simply becuase of the tranny/launch control/warranty dilema. So the jokes on really on you the consumer. I wasnt trolling on the GT-R section, it was an unread post that caught my attention. Do you think I'd be pissy such as you for you to point out the 2nd gear pop-out common with 996tt's? Hardly, its a known issue. it sucks, but thats how it is.
Do your homework, get some counseling and a large bottle of midol- not everything is an attack on you and your beloved (albeit flawed) GT-R. Oh yeah, btw, I do think the GT-R times on the ring are bogus and the GT-R is a HEAVY pig.
I challenge, no, I DARE you to prove me wrong about the GT-R tranny issue.

there is no more warranty/launch control issue. if you owned a gt-r, you'd know this.
700hp gt-r's are becoming quite common. again, perhaps if you knew what was going on in the gt-r community, you'd know that after a $1k y-pipe (give or take $400), actuators ($600), and custom tune, 600-650whp gt-r's are popping up. not bad for not being in the states for a year, and only being in production for a 18 months.
may i ask where you got this information? i thought i've posted enough times for everyone to see...

tell you what, we had this go around several months ago, why don't you go back and read that thread. Remember the 200 page thread? it was all in there. They may be a new and improved launch control, but if they decided to start covering problems it's only because of the law suits against them.

it is indeed a new and improved launch control... this is a far cry from what i quoted you as saying "removing the launch control button".
removal - zero
new and improved - better than before.
i prefer the latter.
and without assuming a lawsuit is shaping nissan's business practice, i believe that the statement from borg-warner, and the thousands of datalogs collected may have had something to do with nissan's action...
lol! that thread was "several months ago". the statement i qouted you was from march 10th.

that takes a little pressure off of the clutch and first gear, and now because it can be done in vdc 'normal' and 'r', there is no warranty voidance issues...
i don't think anybody will have much luck launching in vdc 'normal', as you will most likely not have traction, and it will intrude.
but i ran the vdc 'r' launch all last week at the strip, and got 11.4's all day (stock). if you hook, you're gone. i averaged 1.8 60ft's. which isn't bad for a 4000lb car.

The joke is on you man. I guess thats why you havent been back in here to own up to it.
Just about everything you posted relating to a GTR is dead wrong but I understand. You and others have been reading the same crap being posted on the internet that is not true at all. This crap kinda reminds me of politics with its non fact based ideals
Seems like the same crap is going on here at 6speed. A thread informing the forum about the SpecV GTR turns into a bash fest with people spewing nonsense about the GTRs transmission which is false

it was pretty simple. last month they released a new update that gives the "launch control" feature in all modes of vdc 'normal', 'r', and 'off'. it lowers the rpms to 3000 instead of the dreaded 5000rpm clutch dump.
that takes a little pressure off of the clutch and first gear, and now because it can be done in vdc 'normal' and 'r', there is no warranty voidance issues...

on the NA cars. But when they put it in the Turbo or GT2, they will have to drop it to 3k or so as well, otherwise I can see the same thing happening to the porsche trans that happened to the GTR. 5-6k clutch dumps on motors that put out near 500 ft-lbs is asking for trouble.
Actually that is excellent. I just read that porsches new PDK launch dumps the clutch at 6000rpm

it is good news... i'm glad they revised it, instead of removing it. i, too, thought they were going to remove it completely.

yup, the pdk turbo will be very fast, I still prefer the feel of a 6 speed manual though and it would be nice to see the GTR come out with one for those that like manuals.
