base gt-r 7:27 @ 'ring (on spec-v wheels)
Although it's also important to note that the compound for the base R35 Dunlop tire has also been revised for 2010. You'll notice there is less of that characteristic tire shriek from the 09 cars.
The wheels they used are the same as the Nismo-Clubsport-package Rays alloys which are used on the Spec-V and which can be purchased from Nismo. The wheels shave about 3.5 pounds of each corner. Their lighter weight means quicker response to high frequency impacts because the wheels carry less momentum on the rebound.
I'd say the majority of the improvement is within the revised tire compound and suspension adjustments for 2010 but there is no doubt that the wheels also helped on the bumpy nurb.
The problem with all this is that it is impossible to make any quantative assessment of the real gains due to each component because the conditions were different this year and also because Nissan polluted the result by fitting the Nismo wheels.
I sincerely hope that they produce seperate results with and without the wheels so we can get an understanding of the real improvement from 09 to 2010 cars.
and i would not care and take you seriously either.
nissan, with press and porsche reps present, said they did it. you're just a guy on the internet who probably has never driven a gt-r on track.

GTR can lap ONE fast lap... Can it lap 30-40 laps? I'd say Porsche turbo can, And with all the warranty and Service BS even if i can afford the car I will never buy it, I'd rather get z06 and abuse the **** out of it and have fun not worrying about my tranny blowing up ETC. At first i loved the car, but now I think they went too far. It deserves the respect of 1 lap and great achivment. But it cannot take a beating like some other cars.
Exactly Vlad. How are those tranny's holdiing up in the GTR? Nice of Nissan to stand behind their product. Honestly, who cares about the 0-60 times, 1/4 mile times, or the time around the 'Ring. There is absolutely no doubt that the GTR is an amazing car from a technological standpoint.
However, what fun is a car when you can't really drive it to it's full potential. Porsche makes cars that you can drive every single day during the week and then to the track on the weekend. That's why the GTR will never be better a better than a Turbo.

u guys are soo of base by trying to say the tranny's are blowing left and right. So not true and so typical of the savy internet BS that you believe.
The GTR has already proven to be better than your almighty turbo by backing up its time in front of all of the press and even porsche. If Porsche cant drive a GTR then maybe they shouldnt. I doubt any of us could achieve such a time in a GTR unless we spent serious time(weeks) perfecting driving skills and knowing the track.
GTRs are being raced and tracked all over the place and to my knowledge maybe 1(and this dude never posted back on 6sp) has had a tranny blow. And yes they are being driven to the track and back and during the week also.

+1 kickhard.
i drive my gt-r "every single day during the week and then to the track on the weekend."
but then at the track, my wife gets in for the very first time going over 100mph (besides two 1/4mile runs also in the gt-r), and does 2:35 laps around vir.
nissan wanted to design a car that be driven anyone, anywhere. i think they accomplished that.

you seem really confused and clueless about this car, yet you have so much to say.
i thought this was explained numerous times...
for those of you who still haven't driven the gt-r and don't understand it (but yet, still feel qualified to discredit the car):
i believe it is easier for an average person to extract 60% - 80% of the gt-r's performance than any other car, but it is far more difficult to get that last tenth out of the gt-r than any other.

Not for your independent testers. I highly doubt anyone can match a best time on a track posted with just a day of practice which your indepedents did. I also doubt it is not possible to match the same with a porsche with all equal.
Yeah I know the truth hurts

Man, it was a great time no doubt/no hate, but I'm disappointed that they didn't use a "fully stock" GT-R. I'd like to know the actual time with the stock wheels because with those upgrades on the new 10's, it shouldn't only be less than a second faster than the 08 GT-Rs.
We just won't know I guess.

I was giving some serious thoughts to picking one up for my girl (that means I could use it for fun most of the time and she can drive my Lexus
), but I am starting to change my mind because of a couple of things. I
The crazy maintenance costs that I am seeing is starting to scare me off. Have you guys seen what it costs to maintain this car?
Second, many people are reporting that you can't run more than 4-5 laps at a time on the track due to various possible overheating issues. Is this true?
