Test drives...

I'm having an immensely difficult time getting into a new GTR, none of the dealers here will even let me test drive the car at all, let alone take it away for the day so that I can see how it really is and if it meets the wife's approval.

I've had numerous supercars over the years, I can go to my local Ferrari/Lamborghini dealership and they'll hand me over a car for the whole weekend if I desire ; the same however can not be said for the immensely prestigious brand that is Nissan.

Forgive the sarcasm, I absolutely love the car in terms of looks/sound but I'm not quite wealthy enough yet to hand over $80k cash without having sampled the goods. I'm seriously considering one either in addition to my 911 or to replace it as my DD.

Does anyone know any dealers that might be kind enough to let a prospective client drive the car or even take it away for a few hours? The dealer here in Orlando was shocking, the sales manager belittled his staff in front of me, then proceeded to read me the specs of the GTR *FROM* the brochure! He continued, to say that if I wanted to drive this 'very exclusive and rare' car that I would need to place a non-refundable deposit on the car with the intention to purchase. Now I might understand this right on the GTR's release or even for something very much more expensive like a CGT or Enzo but supply isn't that low on these cars any more.

Forgive the rant, my experience with Nissan just reminds me why I pay all this money to drive Porsche's etc. the service is just on a wholly different level.

I had no problem on getting test drive's while I was shopping the GTR. Just let them you are really interested in the car, or drive a better car to the dealer.
BUT, I don't know if they will let you test drive the car for over the whole weekend.
GLW car shopping.

I turned up in my 911, the guy knew I was serious, I couldn't have stressed that any more. Maybe I'm just stuck with a lousy dealer?

You might try some other dealers. In fact, I had test drove twice before buying.

Try dealing with the General Manager instead of a Sales manager or Sales Associates.

Try another dealer. My dealer offered a test drive and then, later the next day, drove the car to my house to make sure I could get it in the driveway before I made the commitment to buy.

When I bought mine, test drives were unheard of, but then again, you couldn't even find one in a showroom. Currently, you can test drive. Find a different dealer or head over to NAGTROC.com and ask! There are a bunch of great guys in the central FLA area.

i test drove one by accident about 3-4 months ago..i walked into the dealer to look at the new 370z and after test driving that car he took me over to the gtr and insisted i take it for a spin....he took it out of the middle of the showroom for me...i showed up in my g35 that day ( not in a suit or anything) but i dont even think i told him that i was interested in buying the car even....well i live in jacksonville and it seems that they overstock in gtr's here...
