996 turbo to gtr
Hey Greek! I'm located in the Edgewater/Fort Lee area. If you want to roll down and take a ride let me know. I do miss shifting but my S4 has a 6speed so when I feel the urge I just take that out. To be honest... the GTR Transmision is really that good. The paddle shifters and trans overall feel don't make me miss the manual at all. However... if I were to buy another porsche 911 model it would definitely be a manual....
Good Cars, not to Munch In it. Porsche cheaper to run on Track.

When the GT-R came out in the UK, wasn't the MSRP 55k? So if they lost 35k, that means they go for used around 20k?
That's pretty cool. We are not experiencing that here in the US. My recommendation, if you find a GT-R for 20k in the UK, I'd ****** it up.

If you had pre ordered the basic model would cost that with 0 extra's.
Late 2009 models were £60k basic plus extra's.
Most of the black/premium editions fully loaded would have cost £65k+. They can be had for £30-35k.
Modified stage 4 cars are going for around £40k, which would have cost the owner almost £80k..,
The 08's will be at £20-25k by next year IMO which is were I expect them to plateau a little, and would get one then.

They all came fully loaded (no option to NOT get everything). Tires are still a no-cost option (summer tires, all-seasons, winter package with different color wheels, etc...).
Anyway, my point being is that there are some '09's that are stock, that were purchased at around $74k, being sold over 4 years later for $65k.
Of course there is high end and low end of the spectrum. But the averages would suggest the GT-R is holding its value VERY well.
Ok...new member here. I'm a current owner of a C6 Z06 with 11,5k miles on her. Before her i had a Track/street STi with 495 WHP and 465TQ to the wheels. The car was a joy and a blast to drive, love the All wheel drive system. I never experienced the Paddle shifting Technology.
Guys im on the fence here....i love my Z and want to start modding the hell out of it for the Spring Track season.... i'm really into the new Technology here of the GTR and everytime i see one or hear one in person....i get butterflies. Gay i know....but something about it. I might aswell answer my own question here.....Go test drive it. lol But in all reality, after reading the posts you guys really do love your GTR's because i'm a Porsche fanatic and always try to spend me free time at LimeRock for the Porsche Events. But reading what you guys previously owned and now to the GTR i may be sold.

Hey ZakC6Z06,
Based on what you just said, the 2010+ Porsche 997.2 Turbo with PDK should be the clear solution for you.
I know...cost is likely a factor in the decision, so take my comment somewhat in jest.

costs of GTR service
I don't know about Porsche costs but I service my GTR at non dealer shop.
Dealer brake job cost &,000.00 and other shop 2,000.00 for pads, rotors etc. Big savings . Same goes for transmission service etc.

The GTR overall is a much easier car to drive. I have had a couple 996's and in comparison love the GTR much more then the 996TT. In all aspecs the car will outrun the 996TT. Both are modification friendly and i would say that both cost in the same ballpark to modify. The GTR has more expensive wheels because its 20". But getting the GTR to 550whp is cheaper then a Porsche.
I would drive the GTR, and if you like it and like the auto-manual then its a great car for you. Its a simple car to drive and simple car that goes fast. The 997TT I think is a more fair comparison to a GTR
