Eh, I'm just not a fan of the G35 body style. I much prefer the R34 GTR. Also the engine block. Nissan went from a cast iron straight six that could handle 1400+ hp to an aluminum V6. What the hell were they thinking?? Yeah, it's lighter, but it'll also break a LOT sooner.
it won't be based on the current G35 (r35) chassis.
the engine should still be good for 650-750hp, which is excess for the majority of potential buyers.
block should handle over 900hp, much more than anyone who truly appreciates this vehicles intended design needs

It's not going to be designated an R-series anymore because they aren't using an R-block (IE - RB26DETT). Since the motor will be based off the current V-series lineup, it's likely going to be called the V35 or something similar.

Nissan will produce the car with a R35 designation. It will probably be powered by a twin turbo 3.8 liter V6 of some sort with a horespower rating somewhere in the upper 400 range. The V6 will most likely be linked to a revolutionary dual clutch transmission. As for time frame, it will probably be introduced as a 2009 model. Sh*t will hit the fan when other performance manufacturers learn of it's performance capabilities and many will call foul in denial of said performance. Car forums will be inundated with threads debating the R35's capabilities around the 'ring.
Thats just my guess though...but what do I know, really.....
