i did the t04z
i love it.... didnt want to do the t51r.. thats to big for me...
we dyno;d this past weekend and it was 590 all wheel hp.. at 21psi....
car feels great.. and the curve is very nice....
im also very happy with the HKS kit....
Fast forward to the best part
Just hours after the record run, one of Nissan's engineers receives a phone call while we pack up our gear. He then clicks his cell phone closed and laughs. The guy on the other end of the line works closely with another manufacturer. He wanted to confirm a rumor he'd just heard: Did it really run a 7:38?

473 horsepower and 433 lb-ft. of torque out of the box...

Despites its weight and looks, I can't help but have my interest piqued by its performance figures and price tag. My biggest concern, however, is that despite its massive capabilities that the sheer volume of technology will numb the overall driving experience. I guess I'll have to wait for the reviews. I doubt they'll be readily allowing test drives.
The lap time is completely wrong!
edit: my assumption in this post is that the car ran a 19.1 KM tourist lap. It did not, it ran 20.6 km (essentially the full lap). So the post below is incorrect. The GT-R really does run 7:38 (unless the film is somehow sped up, which I have no reason to suspect)

Neat video. The GT-R seems like a capable car. However guys, this is NOT a valid lap time that can be compared to the Z06, CGT, and the like.
There was some debate on the lap timing in the youtube comments. Most of the youtube comments were incorrect. They timed the car in this video from bridge to gantry. This is the type of lap one could do during a tourist day (to compare with your friends, or most onboard youtube videos). This is not the proper timing method for testing a car. It is 'only' 19.1 KM around a tourist lap.
When Autobild or Sport Auto times a lap, they rent the FULL track out (20.8 KM) and time it as such, not just bridge to gantry.
Or when Jan Magnussen set the 7:42 time in the Z06, GM rented the track out for one hour, during which no one else was on the track.
Sport Auto (German magazine that always gets amazing testing times) actually starts from T13 (the old starting line), for a 20.6 KM lap (don't ask me why).
To make it more confusing, it also matters if the lap is a flying lap (such as in a race), or if one comes to a stop. Obviously going to a stop on Dottinger Hohe (where top speed could be reached) will make a huge impact on lap time.
There was some debate as to whether or not the Z06 time was a flying lap or not, as Jan only did four laps and may have stopped after each lap. The Porsche times are always flying laps. Therefore, some speculate that the Z06 is as fast as the CGT at the Ring. I never found a proper source to confirm/deny this about the Z06.
So basically, the times from Sport Auto should be about 6 or 7 seconds faster than a full lap. And the times for a tourist lap should be about 25-30 seconds faster (or the length of time it takes to go 1.7 KM or 1 mile down Dottinger Hohe).
I thought I did quite well when I took my 335i on a tourist lap of 8:58. In fact I could have sworn the lap was absolutely full tilt. I was even chasing an e36 M3 race car that was amazed I kept up with him. The 335i tires were screaming at each turn, and the brakes were smoking afterwards. I was sure I was going to die, as was my passenger! Then Sport Auto comes along and claims 8:26 for the 335i! So add 20 seconds to my lap (9:18) to match their lap, and it seems I ran a full 50 seconds slower than them. Terrible!
At least I can make the excuse that I had all my luggage in the car...
Back to the GT-R, the real lap time for the GT-R would be 7:38 + 25 seconds. Or 8:03. Nissan knows this too, and this video provides a misrepresented time meant to play upon most people's ignorance of lap timing at the 'Ring.

. Given how preliminary things are right now with the car just being introduced, I think it's fair to assume the time will be around the 911 Turbo's time. It's been made quite clear for a while that the 911 Turbo's performance was the GTR's goal, and everyone has seen the 2 cars running very similar times at the various track testing sessions over the past year. So if what you are saying is true, then the 911 Turbo probably runs the 'Ring in around 8:03 or slower.
Is that the case?
Thanks

Tom where did you come up with 25 secs, if you summarize it may be it will make sense, the lap the GTR did was the same as sports Auto 20.6 and not 20.8, the reason behind this is safety i believe that when they come close to the enterance they slow down about 200 m before..so i cant imagine you are quoting some bous 25 secs diff in the lap times posted by nissan and you claim that "nissan knows this" is even funnier because it makes no sense for them to claim something and get proven wrong in the worst of manners by Sports auto..so i highly doubt your conspiracy theory here, but at the same time i can offer some excuses on their behalf which are probably far more believable than your 25secs add on.
1. Car makes 480 at wheels OR
2. Car is under-rated which is nothing new OR
3. Car weighs 3800lb wet with full tank of gas OR
4. Car has far more sophisticated AWD+4 Wheel Steer+Suspension than Turbo and Z06 OR
5. Car was running R compound tires
so there are many possibilities and we will know the real answer soon i hope when sports auto does the tour
and i think their time was 7:44(again a rumor)
