Nissan GTR unofficial time of 7:38 at Nurburgring
Tom where did you come up with 25 secs, if you summarize it may be it will make sense, the lap the GTR did was the same as sports Auto 20.6 and not 20.8, the reason behind this is safety i believe that when they come close to the enterance they slow down about 200 m before..so i cant imagine you are quoting some bous 25 secs diff in the lap times posted by nissan and you claim that "nissan knows this" is even funnier because it makes no sense for them to claim something and get proven wrong in the worst of manners by Sports auto..so i highly doubt your conspiracy theory here, but at the same time i can offer some excuses on their behalf which are probably far more believable than your 25secs add on.
1. Car makes 480 at wheels OR
2. Car is under-rated which is nothing new OR
3. Car weighs 3800lb wet with full tank of gas OR
4. Car has far more sophisticated AWD+4 Wheel Steer+Suspension than Turbo and Z06 OR
5. Car was running R compound tires
so there are many possibilities and we will know the real answer soon i hope when sports auto does the tour
and i think their time was 7:44(again a rumor)

Add a few seconds if you would like to equalize it to the 20.8 km lap that GM did with the Z06 (7:42). It does essentially run the same time as a Z06. Wow, I am impressed.
It looks like the extra electronics and AWD essentially neutralizes the 700 lbs weight advantage of the Z06. Too bad the GT-R doesn't way 3100-3200 lbs too, then it would be faster than the Koenigsegg CCR, GCT, and Zonda!
I'll edit my post above so no one gets confused. Sorry for the error.
I'm still hoping the 3800 lb figure we've heard about includes driver weight/gas etc and that the car in fact weighs less than 3800 lbs.
Don't forget the dual-clutch transmission. I believe M3's with SMG are considered faster on the track than M3's with a manual tranny, and a dual-clutch style tranny like the GTR's should be faster yet than the SMG style. This may also be where the GTR is making up some of the time it should otherwise be losing to the lighter but otherwise statistically-similar 911 Turbo (AWD, TT engine w/ similar output).

ATTESA really is a fantastic AWD system, you really have to drive it to be able to understand. if the rumors of the 200kg (440lb) lighter model are indeed true that would be one hell of a car. regardless of the looks, if they come out with the lighter model with a 6 speed manual i will place my order. it will be a perfect daily and the tuners will have a field day with this car so modding will be easy easy.
