Apparently this has inspired a bit of extra confidence among Nissan's engineers, as their new goal is the 7-minute, 28-second lap set by the Porsche Carrera GT supercar.
!
Nothing outrageous about that!

Hopefully the GT-R will help liven up the aftermarket industry.

In all honesty .. while having no "love" for Nissan at all (AT ALL), if the price is approx. 70 000 Eur, then I'm getting one !
In Belgium almost everybody (well ...) owns a 911 997 and for a 100 000 Eur that's not a good investment imho. (By almost everybody I see at least 1 or 2 every day)
Since I'm actually very Porsche minded, I find it really sad that they are becoming "common" over here. For 100K I want something special, like a CGT owning Nissan ... that actually doesn't look bad.

Nissan is often full of ****. The previous R34 Skyline was rumored to set the record Ring time back in its day (sub 8 minutes) and it fell way short.
At almost 3900 lbs. this car doesn't have a chance against the CGT or GT2. The other question is, will it sustain all the heat and be reliable, lap after lap.
But we shall see. As much as I like Skylines, I'd rather take a GT2 over a rice rocket anyday.
