Best of the Best:
Shalizar Restaurant (Persian cuisine) new location on El camino Belmont, the owner gave me a tour last weekend. Now they cook the Kabobs on charcoal it is out of this world. Try the kobideh, chicken kobideh or barg, you won't be disappointed.

Cafe Kati www.cafekati.com 1963 sutter, wow thats all I can say, small place but the food is out of this world

Red Lotus Modern Southeast Asian, 3130 Alpine Rd # 300 Portola Valley, CA 94028 (650) 851-1718 really good and different

Tamarine - Palo Alto Vietnamese cuisine with a twist, classy and good food too

Jeffrey's - one in menlo park, one in san mateo really good burgers

I've spent some time on your blog, and was waiting for your response to this thread. I definitely want to give Manresa and Sawa a try.

what??? you can't just walk in or make a reservation???

let me yelp it...

If you are a hardcore sushi lover, then you should try Sawa Sushi. I definitely feel like I was in an exclusive VIP sushi bar in Japan. There's no menu, no price and no customers! The restaurant only serves omakase, which means "trust the chef" and let him prepare in his way at the price that he sets. Our bill was more than 2 Benjamin Franklins. (Do not attempt to argue or discuss the bill with him.) To us, good food and unique dining experience= priceless..
Steve is picky with his customers. You sort of have to tell him who sent you here; otherwise, it's hard for him to explain what the restaurant is about. Some people might think he is arrogant, but I think he is just being real and straightforward. During dinner time, Steve constantly tried to test my knowledge about Japanese cuisine. Luckily, I answered few questions right, so he was pleased and offered me more food.

SUSHI ****!

They just moved a few weeks ago and it is not that far from where they used to be. The owner (a friend) purchased a building (old italian rest..) on El camino about a year ago and they have completely remodeled the building and their grand opening was a few weeks ago. Maybe we can all go there together I know MTK is a big fan, I took him there once and now he eats that stuff on regular bases. But I think the new place is even better. The tradional way of making kabobs is cooking it over charcoal, and thats what they have now, no stove, it all gets cooked over charcoal also now they make breads right there which is out of this world. God, I have a puddle of drool on my desk now.... let me go wipe it off.
