Exhausted is infamous around these parts
San Francisco Vacation

My wife and I are going to fly in LAX on Sept. 3 at 11 a.m.

We're renting a car and driving up the coast to San Francisco. We're trying to figure out how long it will take to get to SF so that we can book our rooms.

I'm hoping to spend the Wednesday night on the road and be in San Francisco by Thursday - does this make sense in terms of time (with a few quick stops in Carmel, Pebble Beach and Monterey)?

Also, can anyone recommend some chill lounges/clubs in SF on a Friday or Saturday? Something with house (garage house) music preferred.

Thanks!

LA to SF on Hwy 1 is about 8 hours, give or take. If you're making those stops, maybe 10-12, depending on how long you linger. If you drive at night, you're missing the reason to take Hwy 1. Consider staying the night in LA (maybe at the Standard) and checking it out, take off on the morning of the 4th and see the sights.

Agree. The scenic route to SF is meant for the day, so you can appreciate the coastal scenery.

If you are looking to party, stay in L.A

SF has some descent spots, though, but not as much eye candy (yes, I read that you are going with your woman).

Lounges in SF that are cool: Slide (Union square), Matrix (Marina), Redwood Room (at the Clift hotel in Union square)

A little grimier, but fun: Fluid, Harlot, Temple (had the gumball party here), Sip (North beach), Impala (North Beach), Dragon Bar (North Beach), 330 Ritch

Enjoy!

Good stuff! Yeah, we're going to the drive up all day Wednesday and Thursday so that we're not rushed and so that we can enjoy the sites during the day.

Can't wait to get out there - I'll check out some of those night spots too. Thanks guys.
