Adopt a 1 yo Awesome Lab/Pit Mix!
Adopt a 1 yo Awesome Lab/Pit Mix!
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, as I'm mostly a lurker here (have a bad car-forum habit), if not appropriate, feel free to move or delete.
My fiancee and I are fostering Sunny, a lab/pit mix, that we are now looking to get adopted in the next few weeks.
Sunny is a super sweet ~1 year old lab/pit mix. 45lbs. She was abandoned tied to a pole near Bakersfield, CA, pregnant and scared. Pound Puppy Rescue, a Palo Alto non profit that we volunteer for, gave her a second chance. All 8 of her puppies found forever homes, Sunny is great with people and especially children. She’s one to give kisses to any kids that pet her, and we’ve seen her wag along with 6-8 screaming kids in a foster environment.
She is submissive and plays gently with other dogs (has had great play dates with dogs ranging from 10-100lbs at my office) but would prefer to be the only pet in the house. She does have non-trivial on leash barking/aggression, but it’s improving every day. She’s been on a few ~2-3mile runs with me and does great, and she will fetch a few times and drop it at your feet, but loses interest after 5-10 fetches. She does not yet have a good enough recall to be off leash in a non-fenced environment.
She likes to go on walks and is learning all kinds of new tricks (we’re working a great professional trainer with her). She knows sit, shake, and down, and will hold a sit until released. Sunny is house trained and loves to sleep in her crate, which she uses voluntarily. She does snore, so we have her crate in the living room. She is a big knucklehead, but aims to please.
I’d prefer for her to go to someone that has previous dog owning experience, as she can be a handful, but with the right training and development, she’ll be a great dog in a few months. She’s comfortable in my office, leaving her up to an hour at this point, and friendly to everyone that swings by, almost too friendly. She’ll lay down fine at my feet in meetings as well.
Sunny is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccines. I’d be happy to include a grip of toys, dog bed, and even a few sessions with the trainer for you to get up to speed with how we’ve been training her.
If you're interested in meeting Sunny, please call fosters Lindsay and Jason at (650) 963 4943 or email AdoptSunny2012@gmail.com. Happy to link up with you in the bay area with her for a meet and greet.
Cheers,
Jason

What a great person you are to foster this dog. I wish you all the luck finding her the perfect home. What great markings and I personally think lab/ pit is the best mix. My brother and his 2 friends adopted from a litter of this mix and ALL dogs are perfect temperament and excellent family dogs. I will get the word out and try to help.
Did you find the owner and chain him to a pole?
