what to do in philly?
I will be in philly for the weekend next week. Other then the obvious cheese steaks, What do you guy recommend? I've never been to philly other then the airport before. I'm going down to see a girl so i'm sure she has stuff planned, but it's always nice to have backup ideas. I'm staying at Sofitel hotel and she lives near rittenhouse. So far we have reservation for Alma de Cuba friday night, saturday night i picked up some flyers tickets, but the rest of the time is pretty much up in the air. bars/clubs/whatever is fair game. $$ isn't a huge issue, but since it's just 2 of us I don't plan to get a table/bottle service anywhere.
the only other thing i can think of is running up the rocky steps, but i think the girl might veto that one

there is plenty to do, if she's on Rittenhouse you can't get much better than that. Alma de Cuba is excellent, I reccomend their fried plantanes and ceviche they are both amazing.
If your looking for the hip night life spots you could go down to Olde City (2nd and Market area) but that can be more of a pain than anything else. If I were you I would just stay around Rittenhouse and you could go to:
Alfa
Walnut Room
Continental Mid-Town
Loie
NoChe
Drinkers
Bar Noir
Byblos
Irish Pub
Those are pretty much the night spots I hit up on a regular basis....if you have any more questions feel free to ask
You could also do some museums, Art Museum,Franklin Institute, Natural History Museum, Mutter Museum (really cool, it's full of bones and skulls etc)
Make sure you do the Rocky Steps (really the Philadelphia Art Museum) there is also a new statue of him out front as well which is pretty cool.

If you guys aren't squeemish and want to see a part of "Weird Philly", hit the Mutter Museum. Wild stuff, no more than an hour in/out.
From Wikipedia:
The Mütter Museum is a medical museum located in the Center City area of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. It contains a collection of medical oddities, anatomical and pathological specimens, wax models, and antique medical equipment. The museum is located at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. The original purpose of the collection, donated by doctor Thomas Dent Mutter in 1858, was medical research and education.
The museum is best known for its large collection of skulls and anatomical specimens including a wax model of a woman with a human horn growing out of her forehead, the tallest skeleton on display in North America, a 5'-long human colon that contained over 40 pounds of fecal matter, and the petrified body of the mysterious Soap Lady, whose corpse was turned into a soapy substance called adipocere. Many wax models from the early 19th century are on display as are numerous preserved organs and body parts. The museum also hosts a collection of teratological specimens (preserved human fetal specimens), a malignant tumor removed from President Grover Cleveland's hard palate, the conjoined liver from Siamese twins Chang and Eng Bunker, and a growth removed from President Abraham Lincoln's assassin, John Wilkes Booth.
