Watch your speed out there guys!
I don't know how true this is, but this was forwarded to me today......for obvious reason. So, no comments from the peanut gallery!
Starting today (original email was dated 4/14), Pennsylvania will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy.
The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers' overtime. There will be 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling major intersections and highways as well as smaller roads.
They main roads are the following:
I-476 north and south
I-276 east and west
I-76 east and west
I-80 east and west
I-95 north and south
I-79 east and west
PA-202
PA -66
US-422
US-30
US-322
And many other
roads and thoroughfares statewide.
5 mph above the limit can justify a
ticket and every state trooper is
supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 to 20 minutes.
They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Dodge Charger Police cruisers and are bringing in all of their part timers on full time. If you work in
w:st="on">Pennsylvania, you will probably take one of these highways. It's up to you how fast you are going when they clock you.
Driving Ticket fines have increased steadily in PA:
In addition, the price of a ticket for violation of PA Law 39:3-29 (failure to show your driver's license, registration, or insurance card at the time you are stopped) is going from $44.00 to $173.00.
Please make sure your vehicles have the proper documents i n them. If you jump in the car to run to the store and forget your wallet with your license in it and you are stopped.... Oh well... you just spent $173.
And the fine for not having all three documents is $519!!!

I actually heard something very similar to that on the radio. It's a program sponsored by the PA Governor in response to the fact that aggressive driving accounts for 50% of all car-related accidents in the state. The Public "Service" Announcement went on to say that there will be an increased number of cops out and that they will aggressively be targeting (aggressive) drivers.
Given the fact that the radio station plays current music, the program is clearly targeting young folks (vs. my parents). Be warned.
Incidentally, I was driving back from Philly on 76 Sunday night around 9pm and passed 8 police cars on the westbound lane alone (no joke). They were nailing cars left and right. There were also cops on the eastbound lane which would have pushed the count well past 12 separate cars. For the police, it was like shooting fish in a barrel.

ya, thats basically every road I use...haha...whatever, I dont speed THAT much when Im just going here and there in the silver bullet. But JON better watch out in his RED car!!!!
Mom just called me an hour ago and said there were 9 state popos lined up on an on ramp on Rt. 30. Glad to see all the other crimes are taken care of and everyone is safe enough that they can sit and pick people off one by one.
I am sure it has to do with the Pa Aggresive Driving Program. I am not sure if how much of it is true since I don't know of any "part time" Pa Troopers.

This email normally gets forwarded a few times a year. I've gotten it a few times as well.
However, my co-worker's husband is a state trooper and confirms that it's false. There are times where more cops are out on the road (sometimes Route 1 gets lined with cops) but I don't think it's because of a ticket blitz.
Anyway, drive safely out there fellas!
