Springmeet 2008 - Open to Porsche Now!

Over the past few weeks, I've been trying to get NW VW Club to open Springmeet (VW aircooled and watercooled car show) to Porsches. There are many Porsches in the area, and opening it up to a higher end car should draw out more people and increase interest in many new models.

I attended their meeting last night and NW VW Club will now to allow Porsches to attend. They said any Porsche is welcome, and will be able to park in the Non-judging area of the show. If attendance is high enough, they may open a class in 2009 for judging. (professional concourse style judging)

I just wanted to throw a post up to see how many people might be interested in this. I will post details as the become public.

so i understand....

we are being invited to see the show and park away from the judged cars and people can walk by and look at the pcars....correct? it would be more of a social event for pcar owners and a chance to show off your car w/out judging.

Ouch! My guess they would want some sort of an entrance fee, which I'd be to cheap to pay.

The smart money on this event to make it bigger and better is to do it withe the Local PCA club and have both. The venue is large enough and Porsche club needs more events and different cars to look at. The problem is that the NAME of the event will not bring people to it outside of the VW community.

I don't see NWVW club teaming up with the PCA, this is their event that has been going on for years. Each year I see Porsches in the parking lot, this is just a way to get them into the show area and bring out a few new ones. It gives people something new to look at, I for one think it's a good idea. I guess we'll see what kind of turnout it brings and if NWVW club expands it for 09.

Event details:
Date: May 25, 2008 Saturday
Location: King County Fairgrounds, Enumclaw, WA

honestly I do not ever think it would happen. Would it make the event bigger, more cars, and bring in more people sure it would. I do not think NWVW would never take that step though.

NWVWC is very resistant to change as you know Bruce It's been aircooled vs watercooled for a long time but it does seem like they are opening up more to newer cars. I am surprised to see them letting Porsches in but I think it's a step in the right direction for the show.
