Installing an LSD

Who would you go to in the Seattle area to install an LSD? Gerber? I've heard Cantrell won't do them.

This shouldn't be too hard of a project, but I've never looked under a Cayman so don't take my word as gold though. It should be as simple as dropping the driveshaft and pulling out both your halfshafts and undoing the diff bolts that mount to your subframe/body.

Cayman S with a LSD would be a monster. I bet its vey expensive though. There is a cayman forum btw that is very informative...I surfed it for a while when I was debating a Cayman vs 997. I think the install and diff will run you around $3k if I remember right...

What kind of LSD are you getting a torque bias one, or a clutch one?

Doing a diff on a p car isn’t a bolt and unbolt process, it’s a transaxle remember. You have to crack open the transmission. Gerber would probably do it. They do just about everything, although I would guess that they might sub it out to a specialist. Ask Ben where he got his transmission done at on his RUF. Also asking the diff manufacturer for any recommended installers experienced with Porsche.

The plan was a Quaife torque biasing diff. I had heard Cantrell subs that sort of work out. If Gerber does, too, I should probably just go directly to the shop they would use.

Jay - I read caymanclub.net all the time.

That is going to be FUN after! If Gerber outsources it, you might want to call Fordall Motorsports. I'm pretty sure he can do this for you.

Even if Cantrell does sub it out, you can trust Cantrell to do the re-and-re properly.

Seth.

I can't wait to work on a few P-CARS, something new. I've been wrenching on BMW's for almost 6 years now.

Good. Cause he's doing my suspension, too. Maybe I'll have him do both.
