De-Ionized System and Car Care Products...???
Does anyone in the northwest use a water de-ionizing system for spotless washing of your car? Also, what are your favorite products for weekly wash/detail and where do you purchase from?
Our water in the NW is "soft" enough that you wouldn't have to really worry about water spots. Just wash it out of the sun in the shade whenever possible and be sure to dry it off thoroughly when you're done. We still can get water spots but not as bad as the ones you'd get down South.
I've used a variety of car care products and I like the ones from Griots. One day you should come by and I'll show you what works well for me.
^^i went to a griot's detail session at max rpm last summer with a few other 6speeders. they gave away a free sample of speed shine. i love that stuff! i've been pleased with all of my griot's stuff, especially the buffer. it's not too heavy.
greta, next time they have that session, you should come along! it's a fun drive down and they sell the products there as well.
i still need to get the creeper so i don't break my back when bending over to detail my wheels. they are soooo complicated to clean! lol! and, i'm getting tooo olddddd!

I have been through a Griots Detailing Clinic and have all their products which is what I always used on my C4S. I have also been through a detail clinic by Bradley's Detail shop in Bellevue, with very similar techniques. Then to the concours clinic last weekend. I have been detailing my own cars for years and enjoy it, but have noticed many products on the forums that I am not as familiar with. I am exploring if Griots is the best product for my new car or if there are even better products out there.
The best investment you will make for washing or detailing are the towels. I was givin a couple of theses micro fiber towels made by Mothers, now they are my most used and most coveted car cleaning items. Don’t know if they make these exact towels anymore but they make something similar. I think a company called Cobra also makes a knock off that works well. There are a ton of these out there, but only a few that work really well. Also Jason is right about our water being just right. Over at my place east of the mountains however, the water is just about as hard as it can be. Mix that with desert like dryness, heat and sun. It makes washing a pain.
The part that makes them really good is the ability to absorb water. I literally use only one of these things to dry an entire car, and even a truck. It wicks water extremely fast then when quits absorbing just wring it out. They are only 15”x15” too. I hate racing the sun to get everything dry, and these make it go really fast. Also because you only need one it cuts down on laundry. If I’m just doing a simple wash, I only have a dirty mit and one little cloth to deal with.
Greta sounds Scandinavian. My family is all originally from Norway. This reminds me, real sheep wool mitts are also the best. Not too soft that they can’t get off road tar and bugs, but soft enough that they wont leave any micro scratches.

Actually Greta is German. My maiden name however is Osterlund which is Swedish. Thanks for the tips on towels - I actually have those too. I guess I am pretty well set and was doing most everything right - I was looking for an excuse to buy some new products for my new car. Maybe a new bucket.

I hope Ill be able to make it to on Saturday. I’ll just shuffle some things around. I don’t know what I’m going to do for a helmet though. Motorcycle ones won’t fly with the inspectors.
