well great news today....after 2 weeks we having been running into issues. Finding parts is the main one. Seem to have problems finding 996 RS bumpers. What is on my car are the widebody RS bumper that Porsche used from 99-02. Pretty much no one makes them anymore and the only ones we can find were in pretty bad shape.

So we started looking at what was available and that was the MKII stuff with the newer headlights. At first the insurance said they WILL NOT cover and I am SOL since the bumper is no longer made. IF I had to upgrade to the newer bumper and headlights (fender also) I have to pay out of my pocket. After alot of back and forth (some great help from Steve-Red Bogey) the insurance called today and said just to order everything with the 04 996 RSR parts and get it done. We have searched long enough for the earlier parts and finding them will be too hard.

So my car will have a newer look coming soon..

 

That's great news, Bruce. You worked long and hard and the results were well worth it. Can't wait to see the end results!

Just need to see what makes the most sense with keeping it. I have a house on Whidbey Island to worry about until that sells. I wish I had the extra reserves to cover the house too. Then I could hold on to the car

It is hard to see your pride and joy like that, but like you said, it can be fixed.

 

Nope I don't know how to do body work. It would be nice in White Bruce I think you get your girl to buy you Vinces old GT3. Keep the 996 and Whidbey will figure itself out.

 

sorry to hear about your ride it was a beautiful machine. Hope it all works out . Some guy ( drunk driving ) destroyed one of my M3's ( and another car in the process) in a head on collision recently ...it sucks
