Invitation: Montana Run III
Invitation: Montana Run III
I believe I posted up about this same event last year, but didn't have many show interest due to the long drive over to Spokane and the lack of spirited driving that could be experienced...
This year will be different
What: 3rd Annual Montana Run sponsored by NW BMW Club
When: Saturday September 20th
Where: Spokane, Wa
The current plan is for any people who live west of the mountains to meet at XXX Burger in Issaquah Friday 9/19 around 2pm. We will grab a quick bite, and then jump on I-90 to head to Spokane.
Auto related activities while in Spokane:
The morning of Saturday 9/20 will be the 3rd annual Montana Run. We will meet up at 9:45am in the Southeast corner of the Albertson’s parking lot in Liberty Lake, Wa (1304 N Liberty Lake Rd, Liberty Lake, WA). We will depart at 10:30am and additional details will be given out at the time of departure. We will be stopping in Montana for lunch and on the way back we will have another stop for a photo session.
There will be a professional photographer on the drive
The evening of Saturday 9/20 we will be heading to Spokane Raceway Park where for $8 you can make unlimited passes down their 1/4 mile track from 7pm-12am. They have a full tree and timeslips are available. A helmet is required for any cars running 12.49 and faster
The morning of Sunday 9/21 we will be attending an Auto-X event in the Spokane area that you are welcome to participate in or just watch. It is being done by Autosports Northwest (www.autosportsnorthwest.org). The price is $30 to race for non-Autosport NW members. They have helmets available at the event.
Once the Auto-X event has finished we will grab some food and start the drive back home.
All on here are invited. This is primarily a BMW drive, but all euro's are welcome and I'll be taking my Camaro over
Lodging information:
Cedars Inn - Comfort Inn - (509) 340-3333
2327 N Madson Rd
Liberty Lake, WA
Cedars Inn is a typical hotel, and while it isn't at the same level of the Hilton and the Double Tree that I mentioned early, it is clean and has a friendly staff.
I stayed there last year for the Montana Run II and found it sufficient for a couple night stay.

Confirmed: Meet at XXX Burger in Issaquah on Friday 9/19 at 2:30 pm. We will be departing for Spokane around 3:00pm. I will have all the details you need when you arrive. I've got a 10 page packet that includes the break down of all the activities for the weekend, as well as all the addresses needed for everywhere we'll be going, and Google Maps directions....

I-90 can be fun on the way over if you have a good radar detector and a good laser jammer.....And if those fail, Jag Matto to the rescue
There are several alternative routes to Spokane that would avoid the WSP and be a lot less boring. I just finished a trip in that vicinity where we did not see any cops and very little traffic on some fun twisty roads.

I know of your frustration. I planned an elaborate 4 day tour through southeastern Washington and northeastern Oregon. In the beginning there were several people expressing interest, but all but one flaked out when it came time to go. I've had this happen a number of times to the point where I'm not going to bother anymore.
This six speed group is mostly interested in driving to a nearby parking lot and looking at each others cars.

^^and take a lot of pictures. we like pictures! hehe!
james...just a thought, maybe some of the lack of interest could be that some of us have not met you yet? perhaps if you came out to some of the events and got to know some of gang they would be more interested in coming out? there are always new people coming to the events and maybe if you come out & get to know them, hang out, etc., you may see a different response? just a thought. =)
have fun on the drive! i hope you all have a nice time. =)

I would be going on this drive but I have to work that weekend (Back to School weekend at Seattle University and as a member of an extremely short-staffed IT department, we kinda have to make sure all the students figure out how to plug a network cable in. Haha.)
Having driven from Spokane to the destination in Montana many times, the presence of police goes way down after Coeur D'Alene. Also where the fun driving starts.
If it helps out any, I met some of you on the Toy Run -- I was riding along with Mitchel in his M3. Once school starts up again and I have a little more free time (working 3 jobs right now) I'll come out to the meets in my 5 speed :P. If someone has an extra seat I'd love to ride along on one of the drives.

Not so much! Some of us actually have to work and have other prior obligations. (i.e. I will be returning from Greece on the 18th.)
I am actually very interested in more drives some where people do not cross double yellows then ***** about others driving. Remember we are not the only idiots on the road, imagine what wold happen if a bike came around that corner at xxx+ like we were.

We have to be in Spokane by 7ish on Friday 9/19 so we're taking I-90 the whole way to insure we get there in time...
I believe some of you Porsche guys have met Peter (Nize) with the 951S. He may be coming over as well and he has some ideas for an alternate route home.
