ugh, Boxster headed back in to the shop

Back in August I had a new MAF put in the Boxster due to a CEL. It ran well last month after I got back from my Europe trip but this week its not happy. I took an exit ramp the other day and was just coasted to a stop at the light. Light turned, I put it in gear and hit the gas only to notice the car died. Started right up but has been running very rough and just vibrated the car. I got it home and pulled off some codes that all seem to point at the MAF, though they could be O2 sensor related as well. Time to take it back to the guys who did the MAF and see what they can do about it. Sucks with it being such a nice weekend and good convertible weather.

Sorry to hear that. I had numerous issues when I had my BoxsterS too - spent over $5k in repairs the first week I had it (served me right for buying a car from Park Place without a warranty). It is a real hassle to take your car to the shop. Hope you get it fixed soon.

Nope, no changes at all to it. It's completely stock.

I have my Mini that is built and just waiting on a boat over. Once I get the Boxster all fixed and good as new I think that I'll probably sell it and put the $$ towards the Mini. They're not quite the same but at least the Mini will have warranty while the Boxster may start getting expensive. I wanted to add the Mini on but this market really put a dent in my 'play' money. 4 cars is a bit much anyways

Anyone have luck with Craiglist? Or is Autotrader the best route?

tough time to see a sports car... craigslist is great though. i'd do that first before spending money on autotrader. however, be prepared as lots of random people will show up.

lately, when i look at cars for sale i look at vehix.com. i believe it's free to advertise there as well. it seems to be mostly dealerships advertising but there are private parties as well.

i'll be sad to see the boxster go, but i completely understand where you're coming from. it's hard to decide when the repairs are costing to much to have to sell the car or fix it.

I've had good luck with Craigslist. Sold my Uncles limo Towncar for him in two days. But it was priced cheaper then what you will sell your Boxster for, thats why it sold so quick.

I found my Boxster on CL. If you use CL be prepared for stupid people and no-shows. But I know a lot of people who have sold cars on CL.

Early base Boxsters have dropped to 10K or less right now. I was looking for an '02 S in the 22-24K range.

Craigs list and auto trader magazine together are your best bet. There are a lot of views with craigs list though so that's a good bet. But you'd be amazed how many people still read auto trader.

I'll go with CL to test the waters Realized I don't have any recent pics of the car. I should have backed it out in to the Sun today to snap a few. next time I get a chance I'll do that and then get it listed. Thanks for the help!

Do you have a K&N filter on there? Some times the MAF gets some oil on it, & throws a code. Most of the time, you can get some MAF cleaner & clean out the MAF & the code will not come back. It cost you $5 & 20min.

We got our Mini in April of this year & LOVE IT! However, trading in our car was not easy & they super low balled us. We fought over it for a while, before we settled on a Ok deal on it. If they offer you $3-6k under wholesale, expect it, & don't take it.

Nope, no K&N. All factory parts on the car. No mods at all. Service always done at Barrier or Larson (now I've come to my senses and realized I was overpaying). I'll take it in on Friday and see what they say about it. They did order more MAFs so if it is that they can swap out pretty quickly under warranty.

It's at Redmond European right now. They left me a v-mail that was a bit garbled but said something about a hose have been severed that likely caused the issue. They ordered a new part and will see what happens when its replaced. Based on it happening just as I got off 405 I'm inclined to believe I ran over something just enough to catch and tear a hose.
