Hey Paul, was this you?

11/8 at 4:50pm: An officer parked along Coal Creek Parkway saw a car zoom by going an estimated 100 mph through the heart of downtown Newcastle. The officer finally caught up with the driver as he turned onto 135 Ave SE in the Mile Post neighborhood. He was cited for negligent driving.

In the 599 there is no sneaking up on you ... it charges at you like a cape buffalo that's found you in bed with his missus, wearing his pajamas and drinking his best Scotch.

... but no, it wasn't me!

At the end of this story they mention that the Radar gun cost $700 and that they believe it will more than pay for itself.

Per the blog.. They do not profit from their ticket writing. WTF?

This nosey chick Cheryl Coupens needs to get a life and teach her kids to stay out of the street.

I guess those tickets aren’t of great concern. Or the Idea is that if your going 25 it won’t hurt when you run him and his dog over in your Tahoe or Escalade.

I see a difference between 20 over on the highway by someone who really is paying attention and 20 over by teens who only recently got their licenses on small residential streets where young children ride their bikes.

I agree that some, wide city streets seem to have speed limits designed more for revenue generation than real world factors. But I have no pity for drivers with excessive speed on residential streets...especially ones with no sidewalks where you need to share the space with kids/bikes/dog-walkers, etc.
