A GREAT day for our family
A GREAT day for our family
I don't know if any of you read the Seattle times on a regular basis or not, but you may have caught an article in the Local section of the Seattle times about Tom Delanty. He was a former tax specialist and Estate planner that stole a lot of money from my grandmother when she heeded help after my G-Pa died. Anyway, after 3 years of investigation, a Civil trial and 3 weeks of Superior Court trial, he was convicted today on 26 of 28 counts of 1st and 2nd degree theft.
Finally he got what he deserved. He's facing something like 50 years in prison with some of those theft counts having extenuating circumstances for elderly abuse. He actually chose to go to trial when they offered him a plea deal on 5 counts and a reduced sentence of 6 months.
Here are a few articles on him. He's a real piece of work.

This one goes into his history a bit more.

Our Civil case now moves forward with him in which we're seeking to get money back. That's almost assured now that he'll be going to prison.....

So I wanted to follow up this thread with some updates. Sometimes I just don't understand our legal system.

Back in December he was sentenced to 5 years. Not exactly what we were hoping for (we wanted longer), but at least he's going to prison. He was supposed to report to prison last week, but he somehow convinced the judge to let him have 11 days more to take care of something. I can't believe the judge let him stay out longer.

while it would have been cheaper, I'm glad he'll be in prison. I'm sure someone will welcome him into prison with more than just a hug!
