You brand most disagreements as defensive. They are merely disagreements, and when I disagree, I'm not afraid to speak my mind. Sorry if I didn't meet your standards of behavior which isn't my objective.

As for the lost sales of cars, exots if driven will break. Show me one that doesn't across the fleet. I put miles on my car so it's going to have a higher risk along with all other exotice, regardless of brand. It doesn't sit in a shrine somewhere so I fully intend to have scheduled and unscheduled work done on it, as I would any low production volume car, regardless of brand. Very small production runs just don't have the huge fleet in which to amortize testing. I get that. When I researched my car I spoke with owners who had huge collections and they all drove that point home. If my car turns off four buyers, chances are good they had unrealistic expectations about exotics if you plan to actually drive the car. I also know many Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche owners who have never had a problem. One car, even ten cars is anecdotal and nothing more.

As for Mini's, ask and you will discover that we've been far more inclusive than you'd imagine. We've expanded the lot and if you see, we've welcomed ALL car clubs with prior notice so we can get the space reserved.

I'm not sure I get the joke about the service department.

When we started E@RTC, one of our concerns was space. We blew through our space in no time and RTC was nice enough to cone off an even larger area. We still don't know our limitations and I've been asked by clubs of all types who want to participate and we're happy to do that if we know ahead of time. What we didn't want to displace were those really rare cars who we want to draw out. There is no clean easy answer. We had a bunch of older M3s come out and we found them room in the bigger lot because we didn't get as many Porsche as we were expecting, but as I told the M3 guys, we will park them when we have the room and we did and they had a great time. If we get a bunch of Minis, that's cool too if we know ahead of time and can plan the space. We want more volunteers to help us manage the lot but so far, it's working out well.

Let me clarify the joke, I have a Range Rover....

That should tell you why that service department is so familiar!

Also I did the service work on my brothers XKR, and his Bentley GTC most of the time as well.....

Got it. In checking around and trying to decide when to get the leak fixed, I heard that Josh is one of the best mechanics anywhere. I'm doing a photo journal of the work for fun. I don't care much when my other cars go in for service, but I do enjoy learning all I can about this one.

I totally agree with this... the reason I stay on this forum is that I can show up to any meet I want in my lowered, fart-can equipped Scion xB, and park right between Larry's 997 Turbo and William's Scud, and I'd be just as welcomed to be there and park there as if I showed up in a McLaren F1 GTR. It's about the people, some just happen to have extra special/rare/expensive cars.

Yup, that's me. I'm in the gray sweater talking to Larry and Darrin on the other side of my car in William's pics in the other thread. Thanks for the compliments, I try to keep it looking as good as it performs.

Sorry for the thread jack... back on topic for Tommy's Tech Session now.

Tommy - Keep us posted on your car's progress.

I understand how you feel, but some of the rare collectors don't feel the same way. This event has always been about creating an environment where we draw out both people and the really rare cars, that help draw out people. We targeted exotics because we know there are vast collections that never come out. Where else would you ever see the Ultimate Aero? It's never been to a Cars and Coffee, ever! A Cars and Coffee is a slightly different event and there should be room for those too. Look at the number of people in this photo who are spectators. They outnumber owners by a long shot. Some said we had as many as 350 and I estimated at least 200 and we've yet to exclude anyone.

We had someone just post on another thread a false statement about me chasing out an old very beat up rally car that turned out to be my neighbors and good friends to about a dozen of us playing a joke. We laughed like hell because of how they rolled in. The only "chasing out" that happened was that they couldn't park in a handicap spot. After we all got a good laugh, they moved their car and joined us and had a great time. I don't get why someone would post a false statement and want a car event like E@RTC to fail.

Some have tried to make it about me who don't attend and have never even met me. It's not about me. I spend most of my time helping park cars, and solving problems. We park cars the way we do for the best photo opps and we're attracting some of the very best photographers around, guys with serious talent. We're doing everything possible to make this work yet we still get bomb throwers out there and it's a shame because it hurts everyone.

Have you been to our event yet? It doesn't sound like you have. I suggest coming first. This last time, we had the lot expanded enough that we were working on a row of M3 that wanted to attend. We had the room because of weather. I told them to let us know next time and we'd work on finding a space for them too. We've been over this many times and we think our event is working. I'd like to see Gig Harbor or Southcenter work too and there is no reason we can't have different events.

If we said this was a classic show, you'd probably not be upset, but somehow when we use the term "exotic" people start to think that should include everything.

Tommy, I arranged for the tech's to swap the engine into my Range Rover because it sorely needs more power. They said you may not even notice if they make the exhaust loud enough that your 6.5 is now a 4.4!

Wouldn't it be cool to put that sucker in a Range Rover??? We wanted to get a hamster on a wheel to put in the empty engine bay for photos.
