Pacific Raceways GP Kart Day
Will do.... I am fighting to wake Mara up... She sleeps like a Bear hibernating after taking 10 costco doses of ambien
The quality of pictures all of you take is so impressive. We all thank you guys for taking the time to do this and post them for everyone. It has to be labor intensive.
i love taking and posting pictures of everyone! i obviously don't edit mine at all and what you see is what you get! haha! it just takes a bit to get them all on the PC, then into photobucket and then transfer them all over, but that's all part of the fun! i wish that i could produce the quality of pictures that these guys do! thank goodness we have the true photography talent here with these boys!
Don't forget Josh and Todd. They took pictures too. And it was my pleasure! Just because we're all out there having fun doesn't mean someone should also be out there helping you guys remember it all!
James, I got the camera originally from the guys at GoPro WIDE down at SEMA. They had a special deal going for it, $120 bucks! I think it costs a bit more directly from them. Check it out!

Jason,
Which variant of the camera do you have? I looks like there are 3 setups, Surf, Helmet and Motorsports, with the motorsports having the most options as far as mounting.....
They didn't even have that many options when I bought it at SEMA but from looking at the product description, it appears that I havthe Motorsports HERO Wide. I use a 2 gb SD chip with it and also higly recommend using lithum ion batteries especially in colder conditions.
Yea...thats the issue with GoHero cams. The battery life stinks.

Jason also has a VIO POV.1 although they just released 1.5. Its something Id rather have than the Hero. Better picture and battery life, but just a bit costlier.

Also, check out the product from Vholdr. Pretty cool and compact and films in HD.

Karting memories
I've been too buried at work to post in the past couple of weeks but I've stayed close to a couple of the threads that "moved me".
The excitement that the karting event was for you guys has been a fun read. I've owned more karts than I care to remember paying for. We still have (2) shifters but have owned KT100 Yamaha's and Rotax karts from Top Kart, Arrow & CRG. My son campaigned from about age 9 till 15 or so at a local/regional/national level.
I write mainly to offer whatever support I can for anyone that wants to take the next step and race with whatever level of passion that floats your boat. There are (2) great options around here as I'm sure many of you know. Paul's worked his butt off for a number of years to deliver the Pacific Raceway experience. It's a world class kart track to be sure. You still have the Mtn Highway track also that only requires an annual PSGKA membership and provides "self-serve" acccess for most of the week.
If anybody wants to chat kart racing in the Northwest I'm sure available to support you in any way I can.

The Vhold camera is nice, but $$$.
I went back to Costco to check out the action sports camera I talked about yesterday. It's pretty inexpensive at $79, but it's got a really narrow field of view (53 degrees I think...)

I've researched a bunch of helmet camera solutions and VholdR was one of them. The other was the one from Sony but that one was $2799! And it doesn't even come with a mounting kit of any type. You're forced to come up with your own.
I'm a little bit skeptical however about the VholdR for a couple of reasons which at the moment is beyond me. $311 from amazon.com actually isn't bad. I paid almost $700 for the VIO POV.1 last year.
Gregg, I'm glad to hear from you. Thanks for speaking up. I'd like to hear more about what the next steps would be. Obviously the logical path would I assume be to practice a bit more to see if karting really suits us and maybe perhaps buy a shifterkart of our own sometime down the road. What would your suggestions however be for someone who is "relatively" new to karting in general. One thing is for sure, it's going to be a whole lot cheaper than road racing cars! Or maybe not.
